The Hollywood Reporter is one of the best and most respected media in the world. However, its review of Adam Wingard's Death Note focuses almost entirely on describing the whole movie without giving many opinions.

"Good solid information on the Death Note. It's easy to get caught up in the well designed trailer and filled with excitement for the movie. This review breaks down the plot and characters and gives a fair assessment of the movie. It's a bit of a high minded review, however, in my opinion. Especially considering the audience the movie is sure to generate."

"I think the review works. They do give away a lot of info, which I don't love, but they never give it all away. The site itself looks pretty clean, though I did get a ad with sound that just started playing, which I didn't like. The site looks clean the selection matches I just wish there hadn't been the pop up ad."

"This is a bad review. At best, it is a synopsis. I think this is a tactic used to avoid providing a negative judgement about the film. It is likely to be a bad film, and worse than the live-action Japanese versions. Stick to the manga or anime."
