"In the Indiespensable series of books from Powell, The Goldfinch is a coming of age read which tells how Theo Decker has been greatly affected by the painting of The Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius. A quite compelling read overall."

"There is a thing in books, movies, tv, etc... that makes me crazy and that is going over the same thing over and over and over again. This does just that when Theo is going through a bender. It gets really annoying to me and I start saying, "let's move the bleep on already." Other than that, the book is fine, but it was annoying enough to me to not recommend this. "

"The Goldfinch is not a book that has a color in the name."

"A very interesting story of a child growing up who's life is affected by a painting. This is a very good work of fiction and the story is full of suspense. The character development is stellar with a wide variety of interesting people to move the story forward. Very long though it took me the better part of 2 weeks to finish it and it was well worth it. Highly reviewed and read by many people."

"I love a good book set in NYC. I grew up there, so it's always fun to find books that are set in there. I found The Goldfinch while going through the library. It's a really fun book to read and I kept wanting to read more and more, even when I didn't have time to do so. "

"This is a great book about the influence of art on people. Although it's fiction, it deals with the beauty and inspiration of art in a real way."

"This book is a Pulitzer Prize winner. It is a coming of age story which some comment is a companion piece to the Catcher in the Rye. It deals with a character Theo and his thought processes about the goldfinch, his life, his love, and other issues. "

"The goldfinch angle needs more thinking to be done. I can see the overall route since inspirational books are very near and dear to people. This needs to be valued heavily. "
