"If you're into space operas then I'd recommend you at least try this out. I've very picky about them, so this wasn't high up on my list of them, but it was a decent read. "

"Well reviewed with over 4 stars, this can not be a horrible book. Has won many awards in the genre also, as it is the only novel ever to win the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Award."

"This book does have the stamp on the cover saying it has in fact won a Hugo award. The story and subject matter seem pretty interesting. And the user reviews are very positive. This seems like an excellent choice for me."

"This story had a female main character, which was nice. But I would have liked it more if it wasn't all about a vengeance quest."

"This is a must read for fans of science fiction series. This first book is a great introduction into the world and a fantastic story on its own. It tells the story of a female soldier named Breq, who is looking for revenge after losing her job as a judge because of an act of treachery. The journey she goes on is great and keeps you wanting to read more."

"This novel is a refreshing update on a genre that often eschews female heroinism. Breq's character is one that resonates with me as she attempts to venge an unjust death. It's simply a character type we don't read enough about: a strong woman who simply will not abide any more injustice and acts to change her world/universe."

"If you are into hardcore sci fi then this is your book. I found this story to be very complex and hard to follow. It is very well written but i think you have to be a true science fiction lover to get into this one."

"This book was on a reading list or employee recommends shelf at 2 different bookstores I go to, so I had to try it. I'm glad I did because it was really engaging and I can see the reason for the hype. It has elements that actually make you think about social justice in addition to the good sci-fi stuff. Liked it a lot."
