"Artemis Fowl is a legendary series, and it was a real privilege to buy it for my children after enjoying the early books as a child myself. A wonderful fantasy romp about a boy genius, Artemis Fowl is wonderfully imaginative and innovative. A must-read for lovers of urban fantasy, this is an accessible and intelligent series for any young reader, and perfectly enjoyable for children 20 and over too!"

"This is how you get your young male tween to read! It is a bit of science fiction and a lot of fantasy. There are many books in the series, so the reading enjoyment can continue for quite a while! "

"This is a great blend between fiction and non fiction, almost like the never ending story. I'd recommend this book for adolescent and young adult readers. Plenty of twists and turns to be found."

"Nothing better. Most adults I know that read this liked it. It's a classic fantasy of extremely high quality -- think Harry Potter. I can't imagine a better example of a fantasy novel that crosses generational lines, it's just such an openly creative book written very carefully so that it presents high, haughty, adult ideas in simple language for kids. "If you are looking for one of the best young adult books that start with the letter a, make sure you check out "Artemis Fowl" by Eoin Colfer. This masterful story is about a twelve-year-old millionaire named Artemis, who is a genius-and above all, a criminal mastermind. This book brings a lot of excitement!"

"I bought this book for a friend's young teenager. I didn't intend to read it but I have a habit of flipping through books before I wrap them up as a gift. This one struck me as interesting because it involves anti-hero concepts along with magical elements that have some sprinkling of science. Of all things, a fairy is taken hostage but I don't want to give away too much."

"A classic young adult series that I think anyone growing up in the 2000's can remember. I read this quite a few years ago and had a great time with it. After seeing the books on my bookshelf I decided to read it again to see if it would hold up years later and it did. A lot of laughs and an interesting world to explore. The books aren't particularly long, but I as it was a young adult series I suppose that makes sense. I would recommend the series to anyone looking for a quick getaway to a new world."

"These are the kinds of books that just aren't written anymore. It reminded me of classic adventure/fantasy stories like lord of the rings or harry potter. It was very well done and I had no problem suspending disbelief and falling into the story."

"As a bona-fide sci-go nut, I have to admit I am predisposed to be favorable to these books ( love them.) But, I do feel a sense of vindication now, as I understand that Disney is going to adapt the series. And well they should. The series is chock full of adventure and features a really interesting and fun protagonist. To my point, my neighbor is a retired school teacher and she home schools her two adolescent boys. She has told me that she uses these books particularly, because they are so readable. But, also because the constitute s great example of the concept of the anti- hero."

"Dangerous fairytales that have been described as not safe for bedtime will thrill you in Artemis Fowl. Imagine a 12 year old evil genius who is a great at making money and is a millionaire. What could go wrong? The child might be rich but he bears a criminal mastermind who captures a fairy. What could possibly go wrong? Curiosity will make you read it but don't do it before bed."

"This is a great introduction to Sci-Fi for any kid in love with fantasy. Colfer mixes "real" magic with scientific advancements to create a race of creatures utterly and believably delightful. The snarky and pithy dialogue mixed with potty humor (e.g. a dwarf who eats and digests soil is constantly farting dirt missiles at would-be assailants) is sure to captivate the 9-12 age range of both genders. There is a redemptive quality of the book. There's really only one character (the main female role) that is entirely "good" but nearly every character has positive moral growth even with all the stealing, fighting and poor model behavior throughout. "

"I was able to read Artemis Fowl through Kindle Unlimited for free, and I thought that was too much to pay for this book. I didn't like anything about it, the characters were flat and too clever by half. It felt like the first draft of a fan fiction story, not a professionally written novel."
