"The biography effects are quite exquisite. The non-fiction true crime genre is very interesting. Makes me want to read mafia books more often."

"This book was a bit dry and hard to read at times, and it seems like the author could have done a better job of conveying what I expected to be an exciting story of a notorious gangster. I bought this for my dear friend's teenage son and they are from Brooklyn, so he found it really cool! However, I did a "pre-read" just to make sure it was appropriate and wouldn't traumatize him. I'm hoping he'll find it way more exciting than I did since he has quite a bit of curiosity when it comes to old time American gangster and mob tales. "

"I was hoping to learn more about the mafia and gangs. I feel the book left me without much insight into Capone and what he truly meant to the gangster life. "

"The stories of Capone and the gangster era never get tiring. This book gives insights into the mind of the man, and the times. This is a detailed biography of Al Capone and his time in Chicago."

"If I were looking for this topic I most definitely would consider a book on Al Capone as he is very interesting. However, this book cover would dissuade me if that was all I was looking at, while the reviews are good there are only 30. While the results are valid I don't think that I would stop my serach at this selection."

"Bought this book because of my enjoyment of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. I wanted to learn more about Capone. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the book spent a lot of time on the other "personalities" of the era as well as the folks that "enforced" the Volstead act in Chicago and New York. Well written, making for an easy and entertaining read. Pictures of the individuals were nice to avoid having to wiki them as they came up in the book."
  • Walter Griffin

"This book is a classic gangster biography. Not only do we get to know the man, we get to know the times that produced him. We also meet many of those around him including ones that shaped him during his rise."
