- "I was looking for books for my daughter who is in middle school that were both interesting but educational. Conquistadora is about a Peurto Rican plantation owner during the Civil War. It is accurate to that time period. I had to look up some of the Spanish words."
- "I've read 'Conquistadora' once in my early twenties and still think about that book to this day. This book spans across an ocean that tells a story of intertwined cultures during an historical event. I would be a great gift to give to a child for them to better understand different cultures in history. "
- "I can't say I would recommend this for a teenage girl. Conquistadora is a love story between a young Spanish girl and trials and tribulations with love, adventure, and personal identity. Unfortunately, most American teenage girls cannot relate to this. One, they do not have the same level of autonomy as the main character, and two, it is too complicated for a teenage to understand. I enjoy a good love story, but for a teenage girl, this book is just a little bit too heavy and dense. I would rather recommend Chicken Soup for the Souls series to a teenage girl on the path to self discovery. "
