"Thank goodness Mac's cellphone provider didn't delete the ground-shaking message that sets her on her journey! That's sarcasm, by the way. So many coincidences drive this plot, that it makes me question whether its my intelligence that should feel insulted, or if it is pity I should feel for the author's."

"There are a voluminous number of fae and elven books. Many view the top as A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, No. 1) by Laurell K. Hamilton. ... Litha's Constant Whim (Green's Hill No. 1) by Amy Lane. Deep Kiss of Winter (Immortals After Dark, No. 8) by Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter. Skin Deep (Fae No. 1) by S.W. Vaughn. Darkfever is a little "darker" than others in the series but excellent nonetheless "

"This was not my favorite urban fantasy by a long shot. The main character is a mary sue and we get to read about her clothes and hair way too much. There is no romance in the book whatsoever and the creatures come off as unbelievable. I just couldn't get into this book and I love urban fantasy. "

"Darkfever is a twisted tale of revenge and survival. The main character will take you on a wild ride as she tries to catch the person or thing that killed her sister."

"This was a difficult read, as I couldn't quite connect with any of the characters. After a while, I grew to dislike each character so much that I stopped caring about what happened to them altogether. "

"This story gets better as the series continues. Also it is more enjoyable to listen to these books in audiobook form. Although there are a couple narrator changes that can be a bit jarring. "

"Mac, the leading female, takes up a lot of book space. She finds out a secret about herself only because her sister was murdered. She gets some empowerment and really takes hold of her own life and destiny."

"I don't believe this is a good book for this problem. The Darkfever book series is more to the horror side than being a slow romance novel. There is basically no affections between any of the characters in this series. Although this is a great book, for this type of problem there are better books to go after."

"I was hoping to find something to read that was one of Sarah J. Maas' picks. As far as I can tell, this book was not one of them. It's a good book, but not what I was looking for."

"Wow I won't give away any details as to the ending of the story but all I have to say is I did not see that coming. Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever is a spellbinding, riveting story about MacKayla Lane and her seemingly dull boring life until the murder of her sister. I was totally immersed in the plot as it brings you from highs to lows and presents many surprises along the way. Please stop what you are doing and buy this book right away, you won't be disappointed. "

"This was a little bit lackluster, both character-wise and romantically. I feel like in the adult paranormal category, there is a lot more excitement elsewhere."

"This book was intriguing and I was transformed into the character's world of trying to find her sister's killer and stumbling into the world of fairies and the darkness surrounding them. It was a very good book with a compelling plot and characters."

"One of the best books for teens with fairies in it is Darkfever. It's a magical world where you don't want to escape back to reality. The writer paints a great picture of the story and keeps you guessing until the end. "

"First of all, this first sentence doesn't make sense. Do you mean that MacKayla Lane is murdered, or is MacKayla Lane's sister murdered. I think this needs to be clarified before this project moves forward. Because the last sentence of this solution doesn't make any sense. How can she face any challenges if she has been murdered. :-)"

"Darkfever is a deeply thrilling books; while some of the plot elements might seem old hat, the author manages to combine them in a way that feels new and fresh. I found myself tingling to know what happens next as the main character tries to solve a painful personal mystery. Wonderful worldbuilding with a fun, frank, and sometimes naughty tone."

"I wanted my daughter to read more books about female power and how a woman can fight her own battles bravely. So, I bought her Darkfever, a fantasy novel about the challenges faced by the main character while trying to solve the murder of her sister. "

"I do not see the book as fitting into the category of controlling and possessive male leads. The woman is on a quest to find her sister's killer and is the one in control of her actions taken in the book. This is an interesting book and her journey. She meeting dark forces and evil along the way which make the book more interesting. A fairly entertaining book."

"I'm discovering I love Urban Fantasy books. I really enjoyed the set up (Vengeance is a powerful motivator). This book is 12 years old and sometimes it shows, like the Heroine's lack of internet skills. of choice, but it doesn't pull you too far out of the story. I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is action packed and full of humor with a touch of sexy. Very enjoyable, great voice."

"Darkfever immediately starts checking off 'paranormal romance' boxes. That's not a good thing. The genre is full of bad female writers and poor stories. This series is weak."

The the main character MacKayla discovers she has otherworldly powers are her sister is murdered which begins a fight for her own life while she masters her new skills. Reading this you have no reason to question why this is one of the best-selling books in the urban fantasy genre."
