What the community says about Fated (Dark Protectors)
- "This book is a good start to a promising series. It features a pretty relatable protagonist in Cara, a single mother who works as a scientist, in some pretty absurd supernatural situations. There is a good amount of action and romance. The story is another take on modern vampire stories, but the world building is quite good. Worth a read for people who enjoy similar stories.""The shotgun wedding trope is a little done, as are vampires. The book makes up for it, partially, by breaking new ground - not many romance novels feature moms, romance being seen far too often as something for the child-free to indulge in. An important step forward in representation, but still filled with quite a few tropes."
- "I know it's a paranormal romance, of which I love that genre, but I still feel like some things should remain realistic... That being said I love the idea of this series, the vampires and the multiple mythic species. The world Zanetti is creating is an intense one full of possibility and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I like the next book better. I'm also only continuing on since I can get the next one through the library and read these all for free. Cara is a woman you love to hate. She is an empath and finds herself and her young daughters lives mixed up in a world she didn't know existed. Wanted for their psychic abilities the vampires need them. Unfortunately so do the bad "vampires" which is how Cara finds her self being kidnapped by Talen. Marked by some fate she doesn't understand Talen claims Cara is his mate and they must get married at once to keep her and Janie safe. My issue with Cara is her constant mood changes and inability to stick to her feelings. The second Talen touches her she forgets she's angry, but continues to rehash the same arguments over and over again. Each book in this series focuses on a different set of characters."
- "I have read this book, its actually not that bad, it does have a little bit of kidnapping in it, but not that much. Over all this would work as a possible solution. It has funny moments in it, steaming scenes. Easy to read, something that is good for in between books, or looking for a new series. "
