"It is the only novel I know from the author, simply by name. To say it's the best is subjective. To say it's the most well-known would be better."
  • Arjun Kapoor

"I have no way of knowing if the book is lesbian, but it does offer an audible version which is nice. "
  • Virginia Bates

"When searching for a modern-day classic book, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe definitely fits the bill. This 400 page novel was nominated for both the Academy and Writers Guild of America Awards and won the highly regarded Scripters Award."

"What a funny book this was. I can say that. I'm from the south and can laugh at the idiosyncrasies of my clan. Fannie sure has a sense of humor and if you looking for an enjoyable afternoon read, Fannie's your gal. "

"An amazing book written by an amazing author. It captures the essence of the American South in a bygone era so perfectly, it is almost mythical. It taught me some of the most valuable life lessons and has inspired me ever since I first read it all those years ago."

"This story is a dramatic but humorous tale when a lady tells her life story about running a cafe, serving up delicious treats- and murder! This one will keep you engaged. "
  • Kevin Andrews

"The best towns are small town. There is nothing like the suffocating, dreary feeling of being surrounded by the same people day in day out. The buildings are small and your town is surrounded by the woods. There is nothing like ready stories that are set in small towns. This book is a great recommendation of small town settings. "

"This book has a long title that fits the bill in terms of what it delivers. The story is very endearing and gives a glimpse into a bygone in American history that many still pine for today. I read this book and found myself looking at current day society and wondering where it all went wrong. "

"Though some might be partial to Green Eggs and Ham, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is easily my favorite book with food in the title! I devoured it--it's a fast read that's both witty and emotional!"

"The best novel with racial discrimination would not be Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. It is not a good portrayal of racial discrimination as it does not have any in the story. It is a good book, just not one that would fit the narrative that you're looking for. "

"Great book about old people and will always make me laugh. I always hope that my family will express the willingness to continue on like the people in this book. "

"I loved the movie so I wanted to give the book a try. I'm glad I did! Older people just make stories so much better and this is exactly what this book did. "
  • Jacqueline Morales

"This amazon page was easy to navigate to find what kind of book this was and if the genre fit what I was looking for. It also provided a good summary of the book so I could see if it fit what I wanted."
  • Martha Olson

"The book didn't interest me despite being written by the "funniest ladies in America" according to Amazon. Perhaps it was my difficulty as a man relating to the two women protagonists or having a different sent of humor. I could see how an older lady could like it, but it wasn't for me."
  • Vincent Cox

"I love dark humor and this book has it in spades. The story and characters are just plain fun. It is slow in parts but a fun read overall."
  • Judith Jacobs

"Fried Green Tomatoes is an American classic. Fannie Flagg is hilarious and her characters are chock full of southern charm. I recommend reading the book before seeing the movie just because the book is always better, but the movie is still pretty good for a movie based on a book. "
  • Katherine Ruiz

"This was an awesome book. Its humor matches the writing style of her other books, especially Standing in the Rainbow. It left me with that warm fuzzy feeling. It is my new Fanny Flagg favorite."
  • Michelle Ward

"I would recommend Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg as one of the best books about friendship between women. The characters are all vividly drawn and I immediately cared what was going to happen to them. Fannie Flagg writes with humor and warmth. Jumping around in the different perspectives and times really works well, even though I wasn't sure about it at first. I really enjoyed this book."

"I really enjoyed this book. It setting is in Alabama, a southern state, and it is a truly engaging book. I feel that the book is better then the movie. I could hardly put the book down, it was that good. You really get involved and immersed with the characters. If you are looking for a good book to read or if you have seen the movie, you really need to get this book. You will not be disappointed. "

By turns heartwarming and amusing, there was never a dull moment when reading it. In fact, I can't remember an author so expertly combining so many elements. A must read!"
