"One of the most complex wars I have ever learned was the Civil War which has always peaked my interest. This novel justifies why such a war is quite interesting compared to other historical wars that will leave you entertained and informed. "

"The Civil War are quite exquisite. The objective is very challenging. People struggle for years to talk to Gods and higher powers. Will make it easier and you have some help to push through! "

"this is one all civil war history buffs should read. compelling, engrossing, and epic. you'll go straight into the two sequels after finishing this one."

    "A wonderful look at history"
  • Raymond Fowler
    Written on April 22, 2018
"The book does a great job of chronicling the early (and many) successes of the Rebel army led by Lee with Jackson as one of his right hand men. Everything builds to the battle of Gettysburg, which is covered in the 2nd book The Killer Angels, and by the time you are done with this you want to pick up the book immediately.BEST history novel. I would NOT call it alternate."

"This is an interesting case of a son writing a prequel to his father's story. It is well written but not as good as his father's books. It may not be the best for middle grade readers either in my opinion."
  • Rose Aguilar

"I recommend this book to civil war aficianado's. This book would be difficult to understand without a depth of knowledge about the major players and the politics on both sides of the war, which this book covers. Topic is correct. "
  • Janet Stephens

"I bought Gods and Generals as a gift to one of my friends because they love reading historical biographies. I have to say they loved this book and it makes a great gift to reader's."
