What the community says about Half-Blood (Covenant)
- "The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck."
- "I was shocked at how much I enjoyed reading this book! It was a very enjoyable, fun, quick read and I'm looking forward to reading the remaining books in the series. I did think that the main characters Alex and Aiden were kind of stereotypical, but Armentrout does an excellent job with the relationship building in this story so I'm hopeful that both will become less predictable in the future books.""Clearly written for young teen girls, this book is not my usual fare. I appreciate that Armentrout wrote something fantastical for that consumer bracket, but I definitely prefer more adult material. I would have liked to see more detail go into the technical aspects of magic and less into detail about how "hot" certain other characters are."
- "Half-Blood (Covenant) is one of the best books with Greek mythology for young adults. I picked this up recently and am so pleased that I did. Being, the first book in the series, it's one you have to read. It's a heartbreaking story but well told. I really liked the style of writing and can't wait to read the next one!"
