What the community says about Harold and the Purple Crayon
- "The most timeless children's books are the one that keeps your child engaged for days on end. Your child becomes obsessed with the book to the point where it annoys you as a parent but that is what makes a great childhood. I remember the timeless books as a child and I have still never forgotten them. This is a great book to introduce to my child."
- "I teach for a class of 6-8 year olds and decided to pick this book up to read to them. Needless to say, they really love it! I read it to them at least once a day, and once a week I give one a chance to read it to the class. It's such a vivid and imaginative book, and I highly recommend it."
- "Harold and the Purple Crayon is easily one of the best books for 2 to 6 year old boys. I bought this for my son who has a wonderful imagination. We read it together every night before he went to bed. The story is enduring and my son loved it! Perhaps most importantly, we got to spend some quality together. It's such a fun book...and I'm glad I bought it."

in What are the best picture books"Aw, I bought this before kids because I remembered loving it so much when I was little. Since then I've read it to my littles and they've each loved it too. It's simple but not simplistic. The line drawings and Harold's imagination go far to make these stories just a wonderful bit of whimsy."
- "Over the past few months my sister has been reading more and more. We have struggled to find her books but one that I did come across was Harold and the Purple Crayon. She did not really like this book at first but it seems to have grown on her. She reads it every night before she goes to bed."
