"This series is a great read for any age group. I first read Little House on the Prairie in fifth grade. It caught my eye because it is set in my home state of Kansas. It was quite thrilling to know that these events based on a true story happened very near to my own back yard! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good read."

"Little House on the Prairie and its series was and continues to be a classic. It was turned into a long running show. But the book sets the standard. The book by Laura Ingalls Wilder based on her childhood in the Great Plains during the 1800s simply is a warmhearted but true tale of the time period. "

"Kids have loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder series for many years. This is another way for them to enjoy the stories of Laura and her family - in addition to reading them and watching reruns of the TV series. It is so good for kids to read entertaining stories. They have to imagine what is happening and kids don't get a lot of opportunities to practice using their imaginations now days. "

"This book, while it may be a classic, is probably not a good one for a first grader unless they are pretty advanced in vocabulary and good a reading. If you are planning on reading it to your first grader it may be an okay choice but I would say it's geared more toward female readers/listeners. Overall I would say to hold on to the book and give it to your child when they get a bit older and better at reading."

"Laura Ingalls Wilder's third book in the acclaimed Little House series is certainly one of those books that fits the category of read aloud books. A true story, heartwarming and captivating, this book, or for that matter this series won't disappoint whether reading for yourself or your loved ones. I vote yes !"

"This is absolutely one of the best books in children's historical fiction. I read it as a child and read it to my children. I look forward to reading the series to my granddaughters. It tells the story of Laura Ingalls, a little pioneer girl, growing up on a prairie during the days of covered wagons. It covers her adventures and the struggles the family faced trying to settle down on the frontier. "

"This family adventure classic is fascinating and offers so many places to jump off into conversations with your child about so many important, universal themes. At the same time it's written simply - I'm guessing it's on a 3rd or 4th grade reading level. Beautiful illustrations from Garth Williams in this edition. "

"Talk about a classic book. America was settled in westward movement that was like no other. With an open amount of land farther than the eye could see for day after day. Follow the adventure of Laura and her family as they travel west and settle on the prairie."

"These are great children's books. Easily some of the best, most iconic books ever written. When I was in grade school we had to read one of them, and wouldn't you know it, I found myself addicted and had to read them all. It was so interesting watching the characters (who of course, were based on real people) grow and age throughout the different novels. This is a series kids have been enjoying since the 1930s, and will easily be reading into the 2030s."

"This book is perfect for the age group. I read this book when I was about 9 years old. My mother showed it to me as she loved the stories. The book is about a family moving to Kansas to build a little house on the Prairie but they find themselves in some trouble as the get settled in. Laura is the daughter and the main character. The book is great for children and takes your emotions in many different ways."

"A classic story from Laura Ingalls Wilder about the early life of her husband Almanzo Wilder living near Malone New York. The story centers around Almanzo and his brother Royal and his sisters Eliza Jane and Alice. (Laura his eldest sibling was 22 and living elsewhere and his youngest sibling Pearly Day was not yet born). Almanzo's love of horses is a center theme of the book which takes you through the seasons in a farmer boy's year. What amazes me is the lack of waste back then. Nothing was wasted. Oat straws were used to make summer hats, apple cores were saved to make vinegar, ashes were saved to make lye soap, and the fat from the pig slaughter is used to make tallow for candles and other uses."

"Little House on the Prairie (Little House) is a title that most young girls read at least once in their lifetime. This book teaches valuable life skills and lessons in frugality that everyone should be exposed to sometime during their life. The books are beloved by all generations, but are especially fascinating to children around seven years old because they can compare life now to the way it once was, and be able to understand everything that is going on in the book.
