"This is a must read for Shakespeare romance fans. It does an excellent job painting a clear picture of what the life of a Venecian woman who is in love is like. This particular translation makes it very easy to follow along. "

"Rather than being a story about two married couples, it is indeed an tale of interracial relations, and this classic story tells the tale of romance between a single couple. This is between a Moor and a Venetian."

"This book is terrible. I do not enjoy reading books that were published centuries ago. I was not engaged in it and actually couldn't even finish reading as it was boring. I suggest that you don't waste your time."

"When searching for the best plays you can never go wrong with Shakespeare and Othello is one of his best known works and it is held in very high regard. I would be very satisfied with this result because it is one of the best plays ever written and there are so many adaptations you can read. "

"Any fan of tragic romance novels will enjoy Othello by William Shakespeare in my opinion. This classic has entertained readers for over 400 years now. There's a reason for that and it's namely the quality of the tale."

"Othello is one of the best 17th century books. It is a great read and I'm sure one of the best."

"Othello - a drama written by William Shakespeare. How does one even begin to discuss Shakespeare - probably the most famous writer at least in Western literature. Othello is a great novel. Would it be the best for this particular theme? I don't know, but it's certainly high up on the list. "

"Othello is without a doubt one of the greatest tragedies ever written. It is one of Shakespeare's later plays and, in my opinion, one of his best. Although originally based on a short story, Shakespeare did really adapt it and make it his own. Othello is a general in the service of Venice. Iago is Othello's friend, but then Othello promotes Michael Cassio to the position of personal lieutenant and Iago is incredibly jealous. Iago begins an evil and malicious campaign against the hero. Othello elopes with Desdemona but Iago starts to plot against them. Othello becomes very suspicious of Desdemona. He confides in Iago that he plans to poison Desdemona. Plots and murders ensue and Othello returns to the castle to kill his innocent wife, eventually smothering her to death. Emilia tells Othello the truth about the scheming Iago. Othello wounds Iago, then kills himself. Iago kills Emilia. I like that Othello is brave and quite competent, even if towards the end his decisions aren't quite so rational and he acts on impulse. It is a great example of a text that was written hundreds of years ago, but with themes that can be applied to modern day situations. It is a difficult read and takes along time to get through so I would only recommend it to people who like classics and have a lot of patience! I really like classics and enjoy Shakespearean texts so I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would award it five stars. "

"I usually need a decent modern translation to enjoy Shakespeare. This edition didn't disappoint. As easy a read as it gets for his work."

"A classic Shakespeare story, though not one that's commonly read like Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet, but it is just as good if not better than those stories. A great drama and must read."

"I have to agree that this is one of the best one-word-title books in history. It isn't technically a book, but that is splitting hairs really at this point. I love this story, and I think this was a unique but also safe return on my query."

"Probably, everyone has heard about Othello - one of the most well known plays by William Shakespeare. Some might even call it the best work of his and although it is very much debatable, one can not argue about the importance of this masterpiece which manages to stay relevant for centuries after the original publication. "When someone thinks of the best books by William Shakespeare, they typically think of the ones everyone knows. The one not mentioned often, is Othello, one of his best books. At only around 3 dollars, you can pick up a paperback and get right into reading a masterpiece."

"Decided that I wanted to read a classic so I picked up Othello that was recommenced by a lot of readers. I have to say this is the best interracial novel that I had read. To see how the novel focus on the lives of Othello and Desdemona two interracial lovers and the journey through racism and the conflicts it bring thus leaving me filled with a heartbreaking moment in the end. Well written by Shakespeare and would recommend to anyone."

"I have been a Shakespeare fan for a long time, but somehow I hadn't gotten around to reading Othello. I finally decided to change that when I heard that it was coming to our local Shakespeare festival. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and now I can't wait to see the live production."
