"Have you ever wondered why some people prevail and live remarkably successful lives while others fail to reach their full potential? Malcolm Gladwell explores the different factors that decide the difference between successful and unsuccessful people. We learn what rock stars, geniuses and computer programmers have in common. He explains that success is not just a matter of IQ, but a combination of hard work and opportunity. In Outliers, Gladwell hooks the reader by first providing an anecdote and explaining the common misconceptions that people have about that situation and then completely turns our understanding of how they got to be successful on its head."

"I think Outliers: The Story of Success is less of a career guidebook for young professionals and more of a story of luck and circumstances. While Gladwell does indicate that to become an expert you must practice 10,000 hours in a particular task, I wish he would focus more on this aspect. This book seemed to place more focus on social constructs and being in the right place at the right time as keys to success."

"Outliers: The Story of Success is a great book of success. Outliers: Malcolm Gladwell has written this book containing the story of success about individuals who have made an impact. He writes about the mysteries of their success, what led up to the event and the things that have changed, better or worse."

"This is more than just a self-help, how-to-be-successful book. Outliers analyzes in fascinating detail why some people achieve success while others do not. He helps us see the clear line that separates successful people from wanna be success stories."

"The first half of the book was very intriguing. Following the path of some of the most successful people in the world to see how it happened is very interesting. i could have just read 100 more of these stories. While reading it I started to think about every time I achieved success, and all of the variables I had no control over that helped lead to that success."

"I studied psychology when I was in college and I knew nothing about it at the time. I did look up a lot of things that I thought would help, and they did, to a certain extent. Nothing helped more than Outliers: The Story of Success. It gave me much more info than I found online. It's a great read about psychology and you will learn a lot from it. "

While reading it I started to think about every time I achieved success, and all of the variables I had no control over that helped lead to that success. The hockey league observation was also very intriguing. When the book started to get into rice farmers it started to lose me. It seemed like it was reaching. The airline pilot observations, while intriguing, seemed like it belonged in another book. Starts off fascinating, finishes off kinda weak."
