"I picked up Personal History thinking that it was going to be a good book centered around the biography of a woman. I did not know much about Katharine Graham but this book taught me a lot about her life and career in general."

"This is a gripping biography about the life of a little known (to the younger generations, like myself) woman who has lived a long life in in the upper echelons of society. It tells the behind the restoration of the Washington Post by her father as well as what it was like growing up, which wasn't as idyllic as one would assume. "

"This is an amazing book. Even if autobiography-style writing isn't normally something you enjoy, this book will still sweep you away and engage you. Highly recommended to anyone into women's writing, history, news media, autobiographies."

"I found this book off the New York Times best non fiction book list and figured I should give it a try. Katharine Graham lead an interesting life and the book is easy to read. I wish there had been a little more drama and new information in the book though. It was all pretty much stuff I already knew. Was an OK book. "

"Mrs. Graham led an extraordinary life. She was born into privilege and money and worked as a reporter, in an era in which she was raised to be a wife, mother, and runner of households. She became one of the most powerful women in industry by pursuing the knowledge she needed, as she needed it. Mrs. Graham tells her story primarily through the peak events of her personal and corporate life: the suicide of her husband, the Pentagon Papers, and a major labor strike. A wonderful read."
