"Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen was a true coming of age book for me. It is both classic and timeless. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet are as real to me today as they were when I first read this a a teenager. Everyone should read this at least once."

"Pride and Prejudice is a classic that has been modernized many times. Unfortunately, during this era a woman's worth was dependent upon her marriage status and husband, and the book illustrates this perfectly. The characters are loveable, but trapped in their circumstances. I didn't find Ms Bennett to be a strong female character as much as a realistic one for the time period."

"This was the first romance novel that I had ever read, and I read it when I was in high school as an assigned reading. Since this was my first ever romance novel, I didn't know what to expect, but it ended up sticking with me for the rest of my life. Now, I compare all romance novels to this one, and quite frankly, this still remains as one of my top 5 romance novels. Jane Austen is someone that cannot be replicated, and her work will remain timeless. Pick up this book if you are at all curious, and it will be an experience unlike any other!"

"I don't see how anyone couldn't enjoy this book. It's as much about lineage and loyalty as it is romance, and the conflicts between the two are what drive the story forward. I'm not a fan of 19th century lit as a whole but the setting doesn't take away from the story here. I can understand why this is required reading in some schools."

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.” So begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen’s witty comedy of manners—one of the most popular novels of all time—that features splendidly civilized sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues. Renowned literary critic and historian George Saintsbury in 1894 declared it the “most perfect, the most characteristic, the most eminently quintessential of its author’s works,” and Eudora Welty in the twentieth century described it as “irresistible and as nearly flawless as any fiction could be.”"

"I think that Pride and Prejudice is a great book for 7th to 12th graders to read and really any young adult. I have read it twice and it is a classic. The characters were interesting and kept my attention the whole time I was reading it. The newer versions have such graphic details and illustrations that makes you want to read it again. "

"I remembering reading this book when it first came out. Jane Austen is a fantastic author and in Pride and Prejudice, she introduces Anna Quindlen. This book was later turned into a movie, but it wasn't nearly as good. It really is true that a book is better than its counterpart. I highly recommend reading it if you haven't."

"Pride and Prejudice is a literary masterpiece. I read the book every year for fun. Austen (Jane) nails the plot, the dialogue is brilliant, and this book features two classic characters - Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. This book still serves a source for modern tv and movies even though it was originally published in 1813."

"I absolutely do not think Pride and Prejudice is a the "best book for soon-to-be parents". It has nothing to do with parenting. This book is rather boring for most people. The re are far to many other books directly related to parenting that new parents need to read."

"I love to read and study old literature, looking for the meaning of life, looking for sparks that can change me. The classic novel, Pride and Prejudice, was one of the books that was life-changing. Older literature can be boring, but if you're looking to learn something about the human condition, about the world, about human nature, then Jane Austen's classic is a great place to look. You won't regret it. "

"Pride and Prejudice is another one of the high school curriculum books that most everyone has heard of at some point. In this case, the book is full of illustrations and beautiful colors that just flow from the pages. The author, Jane Austin, provides a unique perspective at multiple views of character, and it's for certain that you will dislike some, laugh at others, and even identify with others in a positive way. I highly, highly recommend it as it is very engaging and thought provoking."

"This book is definitely hard to read. I know it is a classic, but I found it very boring and difficult to get through. I did not find it particularly uplifting, and while it is not depressing so to speak it also is not exactly one that perks up your mood. In fact, it bored me to the point that it made me feel grim. I do not recommend this book, even though it's highly acclaimed and supposedly a literary classic. "
