"Sabriel is a novel that is outstanding. I don't like a lot of the books in this series but this definitely helps a reread in case a second chance is prompted."

"While I would give this book, "Sabriel (Old Kingdom)", an overall 4.5, I'm only going to give it a "2" as a necromancy book. This book is more of a fantasy and while it includes some scenes with resurrecting characters from the dead, the book focuses on FAR more than just necromancy. Thus, if you're looking for a good fantasy novel, then definitely pick this up as it will capture you (as it did with me) within the first 20 pages. However, if you're looking for a book that focuses on necromancy, then go back to your local book store as there are far better books than this one."

"I really liked this book. I'm usually not into the medieval stuff but this one actually kept me interested. My husband also read it and he's into those kinds of books but he said this was one of the best he's read. "

"This book is not really a good start for young Christians. It has more in common with medieval fantasy than any Christian work or lore. It could confuse young Christians and make them even more puzzled about their faith. "

"I mainly prefer to read standalone fantasy adventures stories, as opposed to series, but I thought this would be worth a try since I saw it had some good reviews. It was OK, but I thought there was too much focus on worldbuilding, and too many elements that just made the world seem strange, as opposed to having a clear purpose. I think that people who like the "feel" of the world will probably like the book, but I don't think I will continue with this series."

"looks like a fun story, could not find anything on how the magic works though"

"I found it to be a little slow for me. I much prefer the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, but this is a good read too. There is joy to be had with this though, so I'd recommend it. "

"It is one very interesting series making necromancy the center magic. It is a good start to a series."

"This book should on the best book list for teens. This book really reminds me of The Game of Thrones, with the time setting and the drama. Most teens will love this book, although, I found it a little difficult to keep my attention at times. Overall, good book for a young adult."
