"This book is pretty interesting, and gives lots of real world information. It is about the LGBT community, and marriage."
  • Roy Williamson

"Same-Sex Unions in Premodern Europe is a book that may not seem very controversial right now, but back in its time it same sex relationships were highly frowned upon. The author does a good job at transporting you to the setting and everything about the book is very descriptive. It sucked me in much more than I thought it would, I'm glad I gave this book a chance."

"same-sex union in premodern Europe defines the story about people who got married and followed the way of their religious. This also states the marriage will be not only the event, that describes the love about two hearts."

"If there were any question as to Gay Marriage, this book has the answers. I am a conservative, and politically felt that the government should stay out of marriage altogether--straight or gay. A friend (from a more liberal point of view) suggested I read this book.....I changed my mind (partially). I still believe that the government should play no part in marriage; but, I also see that marriage (gay or straight) is a spiritual union between to loving, committed human beings, and has been historically recognized by the catholic church and orthodox sects. I also see that changes in christian views of the bible came at the end of the fourteenth century, influenced by cultural biases and masogeny of the times. It gives a different perspective as to the truth of Christian teaching thereby upholding the idea of "love" as opposed condemnation and the "shall nots". I only wish I had read this earlier."

"I've been reading all the best non-fiction American history books at a fast and furious pace. Perhaps I need to slow down, however, because I bought this book even though "Europe" is right there in the title. Oops! Anyway, Same-Sex Unions in Premodern Europe, by John Boswell, is an excellent book that fits a lot of the criteria that I've been looking for, but my focus is currently on American history, which this book clearly does not cover."

"An interesting book which throws into question some of the old time church practices. It claims that the church at one time sanctioned same sex marriages. Interesting and thought provoking, but a little far fetched."
