"Although Scarlet is a brilliant retelling of Robin Hood from a different standpoint (from a woman among the Merry Men), it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Scarlet seems to be a brilliant novel about a woman's journey to fight despite her gender."

"I love Robin Hood and books about him. My favorite right now is Scarlet. It's about one of Robin Hood's best merry men and is really a fun book. The truth is, though, that Scarlet is a girl. I love that! It's such a great story and I love that it's about a girl and her adventures. Check this out if you want to read something new and exciting about Robin Hood."

"This book reinvents the tale of Robin Hood with a female spy. Posing as a male, Scarlet is brilliant and a different look at this long ago tale. The book was interesting throughout and believable. A very well conceived idea brought forth in this book."

"I'm a sucker for a re-imagining or a different angle on a classic tale, and Scarlet did not disappoint. Having the character Will Scarlet actually be a girl in disguise, running from a secret past, is a great premise, and who doesn't love Robin Hood tales?? That said, I don't know that I'd call the characters in this book particularly diverse, so if that's very important, keep looking."

"Pick up this fabulous book and I had to say this is a pretty good fairy tale book for young teens. Scarlet is a women who is trying to avoid a bad guy like no other and decided to hide in Robin Hood group of thieves. There is a little bit of love triangle in the book that keeps it interesting since the book tends to be slow on the tell tale side. I would recommend it if you enjoy a retell of Robin Hood and his thieves with a slight twist."

"Posing as one of Robin Hood's thieves to avoid the evil Lord Gisbourne, Scarlet has kept her identity secret from all of Nottinghamshire. Only Big John and Robin Hood know the truth-that the agile thief posing as a whip of a boy is actually a fearless young woman with a secret past. It's getting harder to hide as Gisbourne's camp seeks to find Scarlet and drive Robin Hood out of Nottinghamshire."

"As a classic book (which starts with S), Scarlet tells of one of Robin Hood's band of merry men who is also a boy thief. There's one important things that only Robin and his gang know about Scarlet and that's she is a girl. Quite the twist."

"A great book. I really love the women heroin aspect. The author did a great job with creating the medieval time period with the setting and characters. "
