"Some action and drama are good especially for the weekends. I reccomand it to everyone that likes to go through fantasy."
  • William Moreno
    Written on April 16, 2018
"Shiver had a really nice storyline but I felt that it got a bit generic at times. I think for teens, they would be able to look over something like this, but it did feel a bit predictable."
  • Kathryn Roberts
    Written on May 9, 2018
"If your teens enjoyed the Twilight series, they will probably like this one too. While this is about a wolf and human, rather than a vampire and human, it still has a lot of similarities."
  • Samantha Garza
    Written on April 18, 2018
"I only recently stumbled onto Maggie Stiefvater's work but I have to tell you, her wolves of Mercy Falls series is ahhmazing! The first book, Shiver, is definitely one of the best werewolf books that I have ever read. You just have to sink your teeth into it. Pun intended!"
  • Heather Bradley

"A nice spin on the werewolf genre with a seasonal flavor. If you're looking for something "spooky" on Halloween to get you in the mood for the upcoming cold months--and you're a werewolf fan--this is a great book to kick it off! I really liked the love story between Grace and Sam, and the lessons it had about acceptance and perseverance. Looking forward to the next books in the series! "

"This book by Maggie Stiefvater is highly rated across a large number of reviews on Amazon. Everything seems positive and the book seems very well written. If I was into this genre I would definitely check this one out. "

"If you like the cold then this book has a really cool theme to it. Grace spends most of her time surrounded by the frozen woods, and a few months with nicer weather during the summer. What happens between the seasons is really interesting."

"The Wolves of Mercy Falls brought me to safe place because I love stories involving wolves. I think this one is okay and has some nice moments where Maggie the main character explores her surroundings well. I think it doesn't go too far into character development and I would've loved that more. Overall, it's an average read and I hope to see more in the next book in this series. "

"There is something about a book with a eerie blue cover that always catches my eye. It must be some kind of subliminal message, but it rarely steers me wrong. I had not read anything from Maggie Stiefvater before but I really enjoyed this book. The writing in the book called to me the same way that the cover did and I found the story overall very moving. Though the book is quite long, I found it read quickly and I wanted to keep reading when it was over."

"Shiver is a pretty decent read. I liked the storyline but I felt it was a bit generic. I pretty much could predict what was going to happen throughout. It also looks nice on the shelf."
  • Doris Oliver

"If you want something just to read about werewolves, a decent book. You could also go the twilight route if you were feeling edgy and you were okay with a little bit of vampire mixed in with your teen angst."
  • Jessica Jackson

"My teenager loved reading Shiver (Wolves of Mercy Falls). I tried to read some of it and found it pretty good. I asked my teen what she thought and she really enjoyed the romance between Grace and the yellow-eyed wolf. She said she planned on reading more of the series."

"It's kind of bad... like Twilight bad. Which coincidentally it has a lot in common with. Totally not my kind of thing but if you're a young teen girl you'd probably absolutely love it. Very generic super-natural kind of 'romance' novel do not recommend."

"This has to be one of the worst books I have ever attempted to read. I say attempted, because I simply could not get through it. The writing was way over the top with some of the most strained metaphors I have ever seen. The characters were unlikable, and frankly the plot was stolen straight from Twilight. "

"A great example of modern fantasy, Shiver continues the tried and true stories made popular in other books such as Twilight. For anyone seeking a romantic story between a woman and a supernatural being, Shiver delivers with a fantastic sense mystery and romanticism. But what's more, Shiver avoids the terrible cliches of the Twilight series by giving the characters dimension. "

"The book called Shiver is a very good fictional story about a girl that makes friends with a wolf. The wolf and girl are friends but the weird part is the wolf only appears to the girl at certain times in the year. I will not say much about it since I don't want to ruin the surprise for you! "

"Eh. This wasn't great. Too similar to other things and brought me nothing new. I don't see how this book could be an award winner. I need something that really kicks my behind. This wasn't it. "

"I was happy and satisfied with Linger, the followup to Shiver. You have the opportunity to dwelve deeper into the characters, understand more who they are, and have introductions to new ones that are equally as compelling. I also could not put this sequel down and I really look forward to reading the third book. This author is talented, this story and its characters grow on you. I highly recommend this series."

"My teenager loves reading, but she's become frustrated with books like Twilight that don't offer much. I bought her Shiver for her birthday and she really liked it. It's a fast paced story with a lot of twists and turns that doesn't rely on the cliches that so many other young adult books do. It's great for smart teens."

It was one I definitely recommend for advanced readers in school or out as it has a lot to say."
