"A great graphic novel for girls that touches on the growing pains we all experience is Smile. My sister in law is a teacher and she mentioned that this would be a good book to give a girl since if features a positive female role model dealing with the same problems young girls do. "

"If you are looking for a great book about smiles than I suggest the graphic novel version of Smile. It is an alternative take on a smile, as it is about a girl named Raina losing her two front teeth in a camp. She must deal with how people view her unique smile."

"Very cool story, teaches kids not to bee too shy. Also I like the artwork, it is very different. "

"This book is okay but I think a better book for fifth graders would be one where more is going on. This book is too much about the teeth."

"My daughter, like all young kids, is self-conscious about her appearance. So when she struggled with her first breakout of acne I bought this book for her. It's a charming graphic novel that tracks the struggles of the hero to deal with her missing two front teeth. "

"Funny and little crazy, but totally beautiful! Every kid should read this book, because during this book made me feel inspired and stay strong."

"I don't see a solution here, but I see a very interesting story about Raina's journey after losing her teeth. Much better than the previous 2 solutions. At least there's a story here and perhaps the solution to all of her struggles are how the book ends."

"Smile is one of my favorite graphic novels. I recommended this novel to my daughter because she is going through a tough time. The experiences of Raina as she comes of age are perfect for parents to share with their children. My daughter connected with the story immediately and I could tell that the words and images within helped her to cope with what she was experiencing."

"This is a great book for a young girl to read who may be dealing with the tough things of growing up. An easy read for the younger generation but some mature tones."
