"The setting around the Trojan War is unique for this type of book. The dynamics between the characters are very real. The story line is not as smooth as it could be. "

"Novels based on historical perspectives offer unique glimpse into the lives of warriors of past. Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller portrays the this particular warrior known for all through the Gods, kings and ordinary people's judgment of his courage and ability. This character engulfed in me a sense of fight for my own destiny, fight to have what i deserve and fight to have your own place of respect in this world. Through this character i managed to gain some degree of self-esteem. Even though it is all fiction, it truly ignites the beast inside of you"

"I was looking for a good romantic fantasy novel with gay characters. I found out about The Song of Achilles. This is a great book by Madeline Miller. It tells the story of Achilles and his life story from Homer's The Illiad. It's really interesting and has occupied me for hours. I love reading about his wins and losses from the Trojan War. Definitely check it out if you love romantic fantasy novels with gay characters."

"The Song of Achilles is a very painful read. It seems to take forever to read it, and it wasn't worth my time."

"I love historical fiction, but I think this is technically mythical fiction? Or perhaps the verdict's still out on that. At any rate it was a very entertaining read told from the perspective of the titular character. It's also very true to the original ancient classic, which is always a plus in my book."

"The Song of Achilles is on the short list of best modern adaptations of Greek mythology. The book was so convincing and realistic that I had trouble shaking off thoughts and feelings about the story once I finished reading."

"This is a good solution because the book is recent, highly rated, and a bestseller that apparently adheres directly to the topic suggested. Its both fantasy fiction and has a gay protagonist. Someone looking for a book on this topic would be pleased with this solution."

"This book does not contain a gay protaganist at all. I think that here are better books out there for his question. It also is not fantasy, it's classical literature"
  • Jonathan Cole

"Bad historical fiction. Appropriates millennia old mythology to make biased commentary on contemporary politics and is loved by J.K. Rowling, which is the greatest sign that it is terrible. "
    Bruce Allen

"The Song of Achilles is the best novel with gods and goddesses that I have read. It is about Achilles and the Trojan War and it really keeps your attention. I absolutely loved this book!"
