What the community says about The Backup Boyfriend (The Boyfriend Chronicles)
- "The Backup Boyfriend is book one of the Boyfriend Chronicles. Dr. Alec Johnson and Dr. Tyler Hall were once lovers and have worked with the homeless and they are about to be awarded for their efforts. Alec needs to attend several social gatherings with his ex and his new boyfriend."
- "With romance books, you already know the ending when you buy the book. The question is how will the characters get there. River Jaymes creates an interesting way of getting there. I loved this book as soon as I started reading it. The characters were well written and I could relate to them. Dylan is that bad boy that everyone has always wanted to be able to tame. Alec is the nice guy that seems to have it all together but you know has some issues. Alec is more of your standard character, but Dylan I thought was really interesting. I wish that Ms. James had actually gone into his past some more. (There is a prequel idea!). The only issue that I had (and kept me from giving it a 5 star) was with Alec in the ending. I won't spoil it, but it seems like when he does go through his issues, I don't think that he would have come to the same conclusion as he does. This was a minor thing though. Will definitely be giving River Jaymes another chance."
- "This is a really interesting read, especially if you're into gay romance books. It's about a love story about people who have to pretend to be gay, but they're not? I guess. It's not that easy to keep up with and a bit contrived at times, but it is a decent read."
- "The dynamic between Alec and Dylan was intense ad the storyline is intriguing. It makes you really think about what attracts us to another person. And what would you do if that persons sex and your sexual preferences really didn't mesh. Would you follow your heart or your logic? Intriguing premise and a very well written read."
