What the community says about The Blind Assassin
- "At first glance this was a much longer read than I was anticipating! Clocking in at over 500 pages, I wasn't sure if I would be able to endure so much. I'm happy to report that this is one of the most compelling books that I have read in recent memory. Without speaking to much of the plot, I can say that the story is enthralling and keeps you wanting to know more. There is strong language throughout so if you aren't comfortable with that, I would stay away. But please, give this gem a chance. Go in unspoiled as the experience on the way out will be so much better.""If you're looking for the best books written by Canadian female writers, this may just be the perfect solution. Known for her book The Handmaid's Tale, this new tale The Blind Assassin, is just as good if not better than her previous work. Margaret Atwood includes parts of her Canadian culture in her writing and this book is a definite good read.""Not sure if you have heard of the book or not, but The Blind Assassin is really one of my favorite books Ive read. I would not consider myself a book enthusiast at all, but this was one of them that really held my attention. I almost felt like I was watching a movie while reading, which is an experience I dont usually get. Definitely recommend!"
- "Margaret Atwood rarely disappoints and The Blind Assassin is no exception. I was initially drawn in to the story but found some of the middle chapters a bit hard to get through. After a few days break from the novel, I could not stop wondering about the outcome and picked up the book again. I'm glad I did, the ending is so satisfying!"
- "This is a tale that examines a lot of darker issues in life so be prepared before you start this journey. "The Blind Assassin" will make you aware of your surroundings, at times, in a metafictional way. Little clues throughout the book help you form a full grasp of what is happening. The stories alternated but I still cared about each character's pathway."
