"The Deceivers is classic cheap thrills and no frills. For those that are looking for some risque reading in their life, this isn't the worst option."

"Caught in the winds of change, the story of The Deceivers tells of two men on the high seas who work on a ship. Their love will blossom but many problems await seemingly to not reach a resolution. If you're into gay romance novels this may be for you."

"I don't know, the book itself was okay I guess, and the situation was interesting. But I don't consider this a fantasy book at all. Where is the magic?"

"Some nice romance, but I wouldn't say the best. The setting made it interesting though."

"if you're into the age of exploration, or just the high seas in general, and survival stories, you'll probably enjoy this one. it's not tight on historical accuracy but it's fun and a bit of escapism."

"It's pretty interesting. There's not many homoerotic sailor stories around."

"It is hard to find historical gay romance books in the market but The Deceivers is not a good example of them. The two man sailing without any story behind them is not something that I normally would like to choose to read. There are many great gay romance books out there which are non-historical but good."

"As far as gay romances go this is an excellent book. Highly recommended. The Deceivers contains highly graphic tales of life at sea where men were men and women were few."
