"What I love most about reading historical fiction novels is that I learn so many things along the way. The Ghost Bride is set in 19th century Malaysia, but it's about a Chinese family deeply rooted in their ancestors' traditions, which means that I learned a great deal about Chinese folklore and Malaysia before it became Malaysia."

"This book was really engaging. I enjoyed the twists and turns. It wasn't the best ghost novel ever, but it was one of the top 10 that's for sure. "

"I love nineteenth-century European fiction, but know next to nothing about 19th-century China. So I was delighted to see The Ghost Bride in the library. The premise -- a woman considers an offer of marriage from a wealthy dead heir to a family fortune -- is obviously supernatural. But you get some intriguing historical details along the way. "
