"Katniss rules! This book has many plots and subplots as the candidates struggle to survive. Sometimes cooperating and other times plotting to take each other out. No one wanted to be involved to start with, but now survival is crucial."

"Great 'first novel' for any young adult. Very serious topic matter done in a way that won't be overly disturbing for minors. Easy enough to read, but skillfully done in a way that would captivate adults also. I really recommend it for anyone."

"The Hunger Games is a great book. I wouldn't put it in the topic of post-apocalyptic romance novels. The was nothing apocalyptic about the book and it wasn't a romance novel. It is a book where they take kids from each district and put them in a game to the death. Katniss is just trying to survive when she says she is in love with Peda "

"Katniss Everdeen is the hero our young people need to look up to right now. This heroine is brave, selfless, and works hard for the people around her. You will go on an emotional rollercoaster seeing how beautiful and brutal this futuristic world has become. I have never read a book so fast in my life, I truly could not put it down. I can’t wait to read the next two books and see how this story ends."

It was intertaining, fun, and has a lot of great characters. This book will give you hours of enjoyable reading time and take you to a place that feels real. You will be transported into the games and feel as if you are really their. Buy this book!!"

Katniss Everdeen, who lives with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence, when her sister is drawn she takes her place, she is forced to represent her district in the Games. "

Great Narrative, pacing, and a believable female lead who also happens to be a force to be reckoned with! A great fictional world to delve into, be sure to start here at its beginning."

"I feel like these books are maybe slightly geared more towards girls than boys, but not by very much - I think they would still hold the attention of a male teen because they are well-written in general. I would particularly recommend it to fans of the genre (sci-fi/dystopian novels, etc.) or to those who have enjoyed the rest of the series. Considering that I imagine that it is a widely available book, it seems to be a decent one to pick up to give to a teenage boy without knowing much about their particular tastes."

"The Hunger Games is one of the most widely-praised dystopian series of all time. Set in a dystopian future in which the rich force the poor to fight to the death for entertainment, The Hunger Games also infuses a romantic storyline. It is one the finest series for young adults."

"I fought the Hunger Games for a long time. From what I had heard, it was a teen read, and it was pop culture, so I refused to think much of it. However I finally gave it a try. I really did enjoy it, and the dystopian world created is pretty unique. There are some interesting twists to the future world in this book, and I was surprised that it was so intriguing to me. It's not just a story for teenagers."

"A book with fantastic, deep characters and a riveting story. I feel the detail in the book is even better than in the movie. While the movie is exciting, the book does a better job of reeling in the reader and making them part of the book. "

"This is an excellent book in a popular series. The movies are good too but I'm not sure how the violence translates from the books. The would be a good book for sixth-graders if the book isn't violent because there are several books in the series so they would be kept interested and busy for a while. I don't know if I'd let my kid under 12 read them but everyone is different. "

The characters are the best and I had fun with their quest to stay alive till the end of the game. I recommend this to young adults that are imaginative and likes thrilling books."

"If you haven't read the Hunger Games by now, why not? We love it in our family! We've been preppers for awhile now, before they even started featuring other families on National Geographic's show. It's hard to explain to the kids about why survival is important, but with Ms. Collins' excellent novel, we've been able to really drill it into their heads that a little hardship can bring great reward."

"As is common knowledge, the Hunger Games is a wonderfully acclaimed series, that in my opinion, is well worth the read for anyone who is interested! That being said, I really personally do not feel as though this is the best book/series for middle school students. It isn't so much that I find the book to be too 'adult' for that age group, but more that I feel the book and series would be more useful as a learning tool with children who are slightly older. "

"This might be a young adult's book, but as an adult I really enjoyed it. In today's world, with all of us being shuffled off into the sidelines and dark forgotten alleyways, it feels less like fantasy and more like a prediction. I don't want to end up needing to fight just to eat, but maybe it'll happen. The book is a fun if a little sobering to read, and I really like how Katniss stays focused on her problems and how to fix them instead of flapping about all fluttering and useless. Better than the movie."

It's also not too long for such an epic story, coming in at 384 pages. You can get it done in a few days if you focus."

"This is now what I consider a modern day classic. As far as young adult novels go, I don't think there isn't much needed to say about The Hunger Games. They are an amazing trilogy of books to read. Suzanne Collins really knew her stuff as she presented us with our heroine Katniss Everdeen who powers the through the tyranny of the dictatorial government by volunteering herself to compete in the Hunger Games, an all out battle royal televised to the public. If you haven't seen the movies, read the books, they're infinitely better."

If you want something that is set in the future, this would be a good place to start. I think that you will be glad you decided to read the book, the movie of the same title is also quite good. "
