"If fantasy is your type of books, this one is great for you. It has all the action you can ever imagine. Sadly, there is no movie otherwise I would watch the hell out of it."

"The Iron King was mediocre all the way through. It will do if you have nothing else to read, but I found it kind of hard to get through."
  • Aanya Chatterjee

"This just went on and on. I like that it's got a strong female protagonist. But it could have been written better. A lot better. But I guess a book with faeries in it can't be all bad..."

"This book was hard to get into and borderline cringey, even for the genre. It's not what I typically read, but after sticking with it for a few chapters it did start to pick up and get interesting. The writer does a great job bringing the characters to life. This one is hard to recommend, but I'm sure some will like it much more than I did if they are into this sort of fantasy fiction. "

"Never been big on romance but this was actually great. even my boyfriend got into it and that's really saying something. 10/10 would read again"

"Although the books sounds like a fantasy book at first, it mainly covers friendship and family issues. There are many great young adults books out there and I do not think The Iron King can be even considered as a candidate for being a best YA series. "

"I just recently got started in this genre and a close friend of mine recommended The Iron King. At first I was a bit hesitant because the protagonist is much younger than myself. But after reading a couple of chapters, I am hooked! It was such a good book to read and it kept me guessing throughout the entire story. Highly recommended if you enjoy paranormal romance. "

"I really enjoyed reading this fantasy novel. I'm not sure it would satisfy those looking for a paranormal romance, however."

"Not the best book you'll ever read, but it is charming in it's own way. I wouldn't buy it, but it would be ok to receive."

"The iron king will make you wonder whether or not humans really do have powers. As the how point if the book is on how her family suddenly disappears it takes you on a wild ride on how a child comes to find out how she seems to be different from all the other kids. How she seems to come across her powers when put in a strange situation. Its a must read for scfi fans."

"It seems a little bit generic and juvenile, even for a young adult book, but the reviews are really promising, so I'll give it a shot! I really love fairies and there's a startlingly significant lack of fairy novels for young adults!"
  • Carlos Zúñiga

"The Iron King is a wonderful book. It is not the best RITA award winner but it is a great book, nonetheless. It features a character - Meghan - in a realm of magic and mystery."
  • Rosa María Morán

"It is easy to get drawn into Meghan Chase's world and life in this fantasy story. The author's ability to combine traditional mythical creature and the fey with today's world was truly amazing. I found the 'typical teen' story line rather pedestrian and boring at first, but after the first few chapters and the fantastical elements began to enter the story I was hooked. It was really easy to relate and sympathize with Meghan and I found her a very likable, if sometimes naive character. I wasn't crazy about the addition of the love triangle to the story, as it seems as it is a prerequisite of all teem romance books these days, and many of the scenes felt a bit forced, but it does ultimately help the story along and play into the plot. If you can overlook the sometimes ridiculous teen drama and first love mixed in with a magical realm of mystical characters is your jam, then you will for sure enjoy this read."

"I'm a sucker for romance novels about forbidden love. I got The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and I was blown away. Perfect storytelling and highly entertaining."
  • Diane Foster

"This was my first time reading Julie Kagawa's work. I was at the bookstore and saw this book on the shelf. The picture and artwork on the front got my attention. I read the first page and knew I had to purchase it. The author's use of imagination is wonderful. Her words and storytelling will paint a picture in your head that makes it easy to follow along, and easy to picture. There were a few things I didn't care for though; the pace was a little too fast and just a few things that took place in the story were a little cliche. Overall though, an interesting read. "

"While The Iron King is an incredible tale of fantasy and romance, it doesn't feature very many young male characters that fit the "bad boy" vibe and might not be exactly what you're looking for. Meghan's story is incredibly compelling regardless and it is a great, quick read for teens."

"I bought this book for my niece and she seemed to have enjoyed it. The storyline is fairly out there though it does seem to keep her attention. My niece really seems like the book because the main character is a strong female lead trying to figure out where she belongs in the world and trying to find her father who's engaged in a magical War. I personally didn't read it so my niece really liked it and said she would recommend it."

"If you are searching for the best YA and NA novels with royalty themes, The Iron King (The Iron Fey) is very suitable for what you are looking for. This book is the first in the series and is about a girl who discovers that she is the daughter of a magical king in a strange world and how she can learn and overcome all that is put on her in order to find herself. I enjoyed this book and series and would definitely recommend it!"

"This book was very fantasy and love story combined. A good story if the fantasy and romance genre is your thing. I found it to be engaging and funny at times. It is a perfect example of a love hate relationship about fey who thought they were human and the issues she must deal with."
  • Carl Ortega

"Yawn. Another paint-by-numbers book about magical realism. The Iron King is just another weak ripoff of the original in this genre, Harry Potter. Skip it!"

"The Iron Fey series is a wonderfully imaginative fantasy! I bought this for my teenage daughter, who is a voracious reader, and I had to buy the other six books in the series after it. She loves them - and having read the first, I do as well! A lot of modern fantasy lacks the, well, fantastic elements - this series beautifully rediscovers them, steeped in mythology and lore. Try it!"
