"A great classic sci-fi book. This thinks outside the box and beyond what we have ever truly done. While this book is still relatively new and should rise on peoples list on how good the book is."

"You might have already seen the movie, but it's worth reading the book. I love how the author talks about tedious science subjects in such a way and with such enthusiasm that it is so interesting to read."
  • Roy Medina

"This is a very popular book and most the people that gave it an Amazon review gave it a very good review.  a movie by the same title came out about the same time as the book and both were extremely popular. It could be categorized in a best of category because of its popularity and the movie that was written based on it."

"The Martian is a very cool book that has a very interesting story line and characters. Being a sci fi reader, I thoroughly enjoyed every bit and byte of this book and found Mark's journey to be very memorable. "

"I really like futuristic space stories and this one was a homerun for me. It is set on Mars and is written more like a journal that astronauts would keep. While the story is fictional it really has a "documentary" style to it. It's definitely a story worth reading if you enjoy this fictional topic."
  • Brenda Barnes

"Okay so this is sort of strange I know but I cannot read this book. I don't know if it's the vertigo or what but anything about space makes me dizzy. If I had to read something about space this would be the one but I wouldn't choose this normally. This is a great book gift for someone who loved Gravity."

"Andy Weir, the author of this book, is an inventive and funny writer with a strange but compelling take on things. Although I haven't yet read this book I have read other works by the author and enjoyed them immensely. I can absolutely see why this podcaster would mention The Martian."

"The book is even more captivating than the movie in all its details of what Mark Watney does in order to survive on Mars. It is a Sci-Fi novel that feels like it could one day become a reality. Readers will find themselves rooting for Mark and inspired by his ingenuity."

"If your Meyers-Briggs results are INTJ (Introversion (I), Intuition (N), Thinking (T), Judgment (J)) personality and you're bound for law school or the school of medicine "The Martian" is for you. First man to walk on Mars is bound to be the first man to die on Mars in this clever story about exploration, genius problem solving, and the will to live. Perfect for you overthinking INTJ types who like to imagine yourselves in risky situations without actually taking any risks! Have at it. It's a good read!"

"This is classic, old-fashioned science fiction. I never felt the science was above my head. It was explained in a very blue collar manner without making the story lag. I never felt as if I was drowning in an info dump. It was very well written."

"This book is fantastic, funny, smart science fiction. I think it depends what Matrix fans loved that series for, but I believe anyone into the science fiction genre will enjoy this book but is definitely more about science than flashy action."

"This is a badass characters because of how technical and intelligent he is. He gets the job done by prolonging his life after being abandoned and left for dead. There is no touchy-feely in this book - all badass technicalities of survival. "

"When it comes to science fiction anthologies The Martian is a decent choice read. It explores the theme of space travel and the mystery of the planet Mars, paired with a gripping story of survival by a human man. I enjoyed reading The Martian and found it to be good, but not great."

  • Frances Long

"This book is for the diehard Mars sci-fi junky. It's more of journal style writing than a story. It's very pure in its intent to be about survival and man vs wild than on relationship development. If you're looking for something very realistic, yet futuristic, this is for you."

"One of the best sci-fi books I've ever read. Definitely read this book before seeing the movie (good advice in general), and then read the book again after the movie. There's a good bit of techno-speak in this book and that may not be for everyone, but I had no problem keeping up with it and following the very human story within. If you like adventure or space or science, or all of the above, get this book and read it."

"This book is one of my top 10 most definitely. I do not care what type of book it is that you want me to recommend or anything specific, but this book is definitely fitting for the topic of best books for people with ENTP personalities. Watch the movie adaptation for The Martian or read the book, either way, this book is incredible."
