"The Metamorphosis is a classic. Anyone who considers themselves a fan of classic literature should read it at least once in their life. Kafka does an amazing job of demonstrating the proper use of metaphor and symbolism, and you can't help but become introspective and reflective while reading it."

"A unique novel that revolves around an man who has transformed. While a great read, this does not accurately portray a realistic reliability to those with social anxiety."
  • Dhruv Mukopadhyay

"Kafka captures a the depths of what it means to be human in the strange and partly non-human tale. I could re-read this over and over again. Just when you think you've pulled every nugget of insight out of this book, another one hits you. "

"I found the story for this book too far out there for it to resonate with me, even for fiction. The story was not only strange, it was tough to read. I found it too confusing to follow along with. "

"I would believe by the amount of reviews and the amount of stars this book has that it is not of the best Franz Kafka books. It also looks intriguing."

"I had heard a lot about The Metamorphosis from my friends. They told me that it was one of the best novels ever and was a really deep story. I decided to check it out and finished it within a few weeks. While it was a good book I wouldn't call it one of the best ever."

"The Metamorphosis or the original German title "Die Verwandlung" is a short novel by Franz Kafka. This is a classic and very well translated. It's a short and amazing read. Go for it!"

"At first I thought the Bohemian Manifesto was going to be some kind of guide to being some sort of hipster. A case could be made for that, but I think it has a little more depth than that, in part due to some of the other books it refers to. The Metamorphosis is a classic anyway, and surely one of the best things the Bohemian Manifesto might bring to your attention if you haven't already read it."

"I did not like this book for the imaginary aspect of the cockroach-looking animal. This is best for someone with a great imagination."
  • Randy Hanson

"Given all the vampire to people transformation books it is good to have one that deals with a different type of change and one with a moral. The overall story deals with a traveling salesman who awakes to realize he transformed into a beatle of some type. Throughout, the cause of this metamorphosis isn't revealed rather the book is central on the effect this has had on his and his family's life. They now have to adjust to his new figure, this wasn't a easy task to say the least."

"I hadn't read this since high school and didn't really appreciate it then. Picked up a copy to read 20 years later and it's a whole different story. A really disturbing take on the human experience."

"Franz Kafka is very well known for his literary works and The Metamorphosis can definitely be quite dark at times. It only has about a 4 out of 5 star rating on Amazon but I am sure that many consider it to be among the best of it's kind. I would be happy with this result if I searched for dark books."

"After researching best must-read novels under 300 pages, I was given the recommendation to read The Metamorphosis. This short novel by Franz Kafka is about a traveling salesman named Gregor Samsa who awake to find himself transformed into an insect. It is truly creepy story and will keep you at the edge of your seat for the whole 300 pages."

"Anyone in the market for Kafka, or just a uniquely themed alienation novel, should look into this work from 1915. The Metamorphosis is a good read and definitely has some deep meaning and gea emotional tie ins. It's a classic that still holds up great in the modern world."

"I remember being forced to read this book in high school, and I have to admit that I really didn't get it then, but a friend convinced me to give it another try. Maybe I'm just at the right point in my life to appreciate it, but I can finally see how great this book is. There is so much beneath the surface that really explores the human condition and the universal need for acceptance."

"This is a unique, interesting plot. It kept me on my toes wanting to know how people were going to handle Samsa's transformation. It kept me engaged to know what the end result would be for Samsa. I highly recommend this book."
