What the community says about The Monk (Penguin Classics)
- "While the language is a little old-school since the book was written so long ago, the stories told in the book are incredibly engaging and even a little bit shocking. There are so many little sub-plots and side stories that I was following, it made it hard to put the book down. Once you get used to the old english, it is definitely worth a read."
- "I did not care for this book. I felt it is not a classic novel by Penguin by any means. I read plenty of Penguin novel and this for me was an effort of get through. I did not care for the story line by any means and found that it was very offensive. I should pass on this novel and not recommend it to others."
- "The Monk (Penguin Classics) is a great book for those looking for erotica that were written by the male gender. A story of a young girl who enrolled in the monastery as a boy, a monk molests her and causes turmoil. Keep in mind there is a lot of profanity so this many not be suitable for younger readers."
