"This was a really good book. It is a retelling of an old story and I found it entertaining. I'm not sure it's one of the best Indian books I've read but it was pretty good."

"Taking us back to a time that is half history, half myth and wholly magical, The Palace of Illusions gives new voice to Panchaali, the fire-born heroine of the Mahabharat, as she weaves a vibrant interpretation of an ancient tale. Married to five royal husbands who have been cheated out of their father's kingdom, Panchaali aids their quest to reclaim their birthright, remaining at their side through years of exile and a terrible civil war. But she cannot deny her complicated friendship with the enigmatic Krishna—or her secret attraction to the mysterious man who is her husbands' most dangerous enemy—as she is caught up in the ever-manipulating hands of fate."

"What a wonderful read by the even more wonderful Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Always wanted to read about Mahabharata and this book explains it so well. Wish I had read this earlier. Highly suggest everyone reads this book!"

"This is an interesting looking fantasy book about a princess, among other things. It has great reviews, which is nice, but I don't know whether it is close enough to the topic to be considered a good choice. I would say no on first glance. "

"If you are interested in mythology and ancient stories, this is a great read. Writing from a woman's perspective makes it even more interesting than the usual fare of male protagonists that dominate the genre, which is a refreshing change."

"Great book to read to my young daughter, she loved it."
