"I’ve seen The Phantom of the Opera live. It has an amazing musical score and I have fond memories of the show. When the book came recommended, I was intrigued on how different it could be from the musical. Well, it’s REALLY different and it’s also REALLY great. I highly recommend it if you’ve seen the show before or if you like dark dramas. I will never hear the songs the same way again."

"I'm on a mission to read all of the best books from the 1900s. A loft goal, I know. This one was on the list, so I gave it a whirl. I was not disappointed. Great story."

"I had heard of the play and decided I would try the book. The story is very interesting and detailed. I loved seeing how different the Phantom was compared to how he has been depicted before. He was actually a real cool character. The story was very Gothic but had a lot of romance and horror elements."

"There have been many publishings of this famous tale, but none of the ones I've acquired have had a rose on the cover. The story is great, but it doesn't quite fit this list. You may need to find a specific edition or compilation including the movie, where the rose played a more central role."

"The Phantom of the Opera is a classic that most people know. It is also one of the best foreign novels that has been translated to English. Now people who do not speak a foreign language are able to read this work of art and enjoy it as it was meant to be. I highly recommend this regardless of what your favorite genre is."

"The Phantom of the Opera is one of the best known novels and plays, and classically involves a mask as a key plot device and characteristic of the main character, the phantom. This version does in fact feature the mask on the cover, which makes it the perfect fit for my novel search."

"There is no universe in which Phantom of the Opera is a classic children's tale. Is it a great story that is a classic? Sure. Is it suitable for children? Absolutely not. Wait until your tike is a bit older for this book."
  • Stephen Elliott

"I found this to be a very dark and foreboding journey into the psyche of a dejected and despised sad person. Treated almost like an animal, the story of the Phantom and his love are tragic and moving. A true classic, but be prepared to enter a downward spiral of tragedy and despair. "
