"The Princess Diaries was one of my favorite books growing up! The story of Mia as she struggles with being a teenager, while also trying to be a princess, is amazing. There are heartfelt sweet parts and plenty of hilarious sassy moments that I still love as an adult. "

  • William Munoz

"The Princess Diaries follows Mia Thermopolis which has a strong theme around a girl finding her way. Unfortunately doesn't involve romance so this doesn't fit. "

"If you're looking for a good romance novel set in New York, you might find enjoyment out of the Princess Diaries. I didn't care for it much, but I will admit it wasn't a bad book; just not my style."

"A good little story that was turned into a movie. Think I like the book more for typical reasons."

"The Princess Diaries is a classic movie adaptation book. It details the life of Mia Thermopolis and the film ended up with a great cast. Gotta check this one out for cultural literacy if you haven't yet!"

"The Princess Diaries is probably one of the best diary novels that a young adult could read. This book tells a really interesting tale and follows the life of Mia Thermopolis. Growing up this was one of my favorite books to read."

"The Princess Diaries is the first book in the Princess Diaries series written by Meg Cabot. This book is the basis of the movie with the same name starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews."

"I really love the whole idea of kings and queens, but I want something more modern. I came on here looking for the best books about modern royal tales. I was told to read The Princess Diaries. This book was amazing. "

"The Princess Diaries is a classic fluff piece that became really popular after the movie came out. It's an okay read, but that's about it."

"Who doesn't just LOVE the Princess Diaries. I saw the movie first--BIG MISTAKE! The book is always better and this one really is. The movie does an injustice to it--even though I loved the movie too if that makes any sense. This is a great book to set off an even better series. LOVE,LOVE,LOVE!!!"

"The Princess Diaries is a classic novel that every teen should read. It was the book that was made before the movie if you are interested."

  • Jorge Esparza

"For young girls this is a winner. Mia's life was normal and repetitive until her father tells her he is a prince and she goes to Genovia to see what life is like in that country. The book was told in diary form but the movie was told in story form"
  • Gary Weaver

"Making a movie of an excellent book (almost 5 stars on Amazon) is not always a good choice. The film , made in 2001, only scored a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. "
