"The Secret Garden sounds like it is a great adventure book that also seem to have a mysterious side to it. I am really intrigued. Even though it is advertised as a children's book, I feel like it will also be good with adult audiences and probably a good way to bond with your kids during bedtime. "

"This book has been on my to-read list for quite a while. The story follows 10 year old Miss Mary. She grew up in India with her parents until cholera wiped out her household. When she was little, she was raised by her nurse and was given anything she wanted. I highly recommend this book if you have never read it before."

"A classic book that's not really about the great outdoors. I would still highly recommend the book though."

"The Secret Garden is a classic that everyone knows by name, but possibly not have read. The story, about Mary Lennox and her journey grieving her parents and the journey of finding mystery in a secret garden. The story is beloved by many, young and old, though it isn't specifically tailored for any certain personality type."

"This is a great solution. The child would be able to see something grow from a seed into something useful. Additionally, she would be able to help the uncle who is grieving."

"My son did not enjoy this book and he fell asleep multiple times trying to finish it. I was curious so I started to read it and I instantly understood why he hated it. Every time I started to read it I sighed because of the cliche plot points and generic characters; even the mystery reveal was bad and lacked logic. I will never by a book by this author again!"

"After reading this, I consider this a modern classic. It is a wonderfully told story, and the backdrop is incredible. The setting of the book however, would be more appropriately described as Yorkshire, England as only a brief part of the story in the beginning is set in India."

"The Secret Garden is a lovely book for children that takes place when England still held India as a colony. It is well written and you become extremely involved with the characters, even Mary Lennox who starts off as a quite contrary child. She feels alone in a strange mansion and searches to find a secret garden that has been hidden for ages on the property. This is a classic and is a perfect book for a elementary school reader."

"Mary Lennox does a good job in weaving a tale about isolation, loneliness, and escape. I read The Secret Garden some time back after following the recommendations from a coworker. This is definitely an instant classic in my eyes. One could say it's the book that paves the way for other children's literature books. It's a classic story no doubt and one I know I'll be passing along to my children as soon as they get more into reading."

"I was forced to read this book over 20 years ago as mandatory reading in high school, so of course I hated it. Lately, however, I've been trying to reread books from my youth to see if they are really as bad as I remember. This book definitely isn't one of those. Mary's story is engaging and it is wonderful watching her grow as the story progresses. Very well written and definitely a true piece classic literature."
