"he story is great, and the Wordsworth Children's edition offers a complete, unabridged version with original photos - one per chapter. And there's the rub. There are now slightly abridged editions with wonderful illustrations, and full versions with more pictures, which is what small children often enjoy most about reading. I was upset that the reviews for all editions of the book were clumped together, so I couldn't tell which book people actually liked best"

"Read this for the first time and recognized a lost of the characters' traits in people I know. It's really a book about life and the type of people that you'll meet along the way. It's a real gem."

"I read this book in junior high and it really got me interested in reading. More specifically, this really got me into reading books featuring anthropomorphic animals. I would put this in my top three in this category. However, this book truly stands out the most due to the wacky antiques of the characters, and you especially get a really good feel for the traits of each animal in the personalities of each character. "A quiet read all things considered, Wind in the Willows is something you can read with your child. If you want a book that gives them adventure and animals, though, look into Warrior Cats."
