"This is a great novel for young adults, but it does not have a green cover. The cover is gray with a person's face on it -- there is literally no green on the cover."

"Good story but sad at the same time. This book teaches a great lesson, there's more to life than just being pretty. Based on the reviews, many people felt that there should be a part 2 because of the way it ended."

"Uglies is a really amazing book if you want to read about a heroine. It is the first book in the Uglies trilogy, and you will follow the story of the heroine that goes by the name of Tally. She is desperate to have an operation that will transform her into an attractive girl. Find out what happens next!"

"This is a good book for teenagers, but reading it at again at an older age it wasn't as entertaining. The protagonists is a strong female, which is nice to see, but the story kind of ends abruptly. I feel like the book could have been more fleshed out"

"Stories about Dystopian settings are some of my favorites, a lot of my favorite games revolve around this theme. I've recently decided to pick up some books about this just because I feel there isn't enough surrounding this theme. Man is this book great, so glad I picked it up. I didn't expect to like it honestly, it seemed pretty tame, but man is it good. "

"This is a great book- what better way to get kids to read your book than play on their very passion for relationships and belonging. This book dwells a lot of perceptions of physical beauty. At times Tally seems incredibly shallow, but isn't she just a product of her world. I wont give anything away, it's definitely a new spin on a typical Dystopian novel. This is a cool dystopian novel that I think would make an excellent CW show if it got the chance. "

"Uglies, the first book in a trilogy, is considered one of the best young adult dystopian novels. It is one of the first dystopian novels that I ever read. It is an interesting story for young girls as it focuses on beauty, much of what is on young adult's minds. The book features a strong story line on beauty, friendship and betrayal."

"I'm not sure how far this will push anyone, in terms of what they read. Well, okay! Better, this is something I see enjoyed much more by younger readers, just because it offers a connection. I will say it's a solid book, just not for me."

"This book was very well written. It was definjtely thought provoking abd interesting. Imagine a world where everyone was pretty...how boring is that??"
  • Ethan Riley

"So, why didn't I like it? Firstly, it was dull. The first third of the book was us getting to know Tally Youngblood, the main character in the novel. We met her and she spent a long time going on about how everyone who wasn't pretty was so ugly, and so on. She soon grew sickening to listen to. The book split the next part into Tally's journey, which was long, tedious, and EXTREMELY boring. Everything else was boring and predictable."

"Westerfield, in this dystopian novel, does a great job at informing readers that this may be what our world turns out to be if we continue to focus on the way we look on the outside. With stunning imagery, agonizing suspense, and relatable characters, Westerfield creates am undeniable page turning novel that no one can put down. And even when the book is back on its bookshelf collecting dust, the message of the story is carried with readers wherever their next adventure takes them."
