What the community says about Ways to Live Forever
- "This is such an inspirational and touching book. Sam and Felix are both dying of cancer, but they are leaving a legacy of their young lives. Story line and characters are both very strong and you will get sucked into their story. Another good one would be "My sister's keeper" Both these books tell you stories of their lives and their families very intimately."
- "It tells the hauntingly believable tale of Sam, a young boy on the cusp of adolescence who has leukaemia. His whole world revolves around this fact - he's home-schooled, his best friend is also sick, and his entire family tiptoes around him. And yet, as life so often proves, it's not full of doom and gloom or death and sickness. In fact, Nicholls' book is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. The different styles of text are witty and Sam is the kind of boy you'll wish was your best friend too. The actual lists for ways to live forever had me grinning at their brilliance. I will admit, however, that I also cried noisily at several parts. ""This is a serious book about a serious subject, cancer, and brings the reader into a world not many young adults may have been exposed to yet. It is very eye opening and your eyes will likely not remain dry throughout the story, so do be prepared for that. It might be the type of book you want to read going in with a certain mindset, but overall it is a fantastic book, and I believe it is also a very important book for young adults to read."
- "Ways to Live Forever is both sad and uplifting. It is well written, with a good story and interesting characters. It has a very realistic feel, and I found it very moving. The story has a good message and I think people of all ages will get something out of it."
- "I really enjoyed reading this book with my son. I received the book from a friend who had read the book to his daughter. The book was very sad due to the main character dying from cancer, but it was also inspiring. The main character was able to have his dream fulfilled in the end even though he died. Me and my son loved the book and look forward to reading more books by Sally Nicolas."

in What are the best young adult books"At first I was hesitant to read this book because it focuses on a child suffering through having cancer. After reading the first 20 pages, I knew that I had to finish it and was so happy that I did. I've even passed this book on to a family member who's friend passed from cancer and it has helped her cope."
