"The Microsoft Surface Pro FJR-00001 is light, fast, has a fanless CPU and the price is great. It doesn't exactly have Windows 10, it has Windows 10 S but can run any software a PC can run. It works for video editing, graphics work and just about anything else you can throw at it."

The solid state drive makes it easy for me to keep my efficiency up with fast storage operations. It is the perfect size to work comfortably from anywhere. Highly recommended."

"For the price, this laptop is not worth it whatsoever. The CPU is extremely low-grade and slow; I can barely run a couple simple low activity programs. There is also barely any RAM and it ends up causing issues with different process such as my browser."

"Excellent computer for general purpose work. I am working with the i7 with 1TB of storage - I bought the Pro 4 with i5 and 256GB and rapidly realized I under-purchased for my work. The good (ok great): Fast - the i7 Surface Pro is significantly snappier than the i5 of 2015. Maybe 2 to 2.5x as fast at standard jobs. I'm running some multi-media jobs to benchmark this weekend and will post a followup. Storage - very fast. Files open and close with "snap". The screen is just as excellent as the Pro 4, and that's what got me to switch most of my computing from a MacBook Air to the Pro line. The screen is gorgeous. The fingerprint reading on the touch keyboard (recommended option) is much faster and more accurate. This tells me that there must be CPU processing involved in fingerprint sensing accuracy as I just switched the same keyboard from the Pro 4 to the Pro 2017. Cooling - I noticed the Pro 2017 just doesn't heat up as much as the Pro 4 at any task. Surface Dock - Truly outstanding accessory. Just hook up the magnetic connector and add monitor, ethernet, sound, and more USB-3 to the job. I use it with a very high resolution Dell display and it's stunning."

It has a 4GB RAM, a 128GB flash memory solid-state hard drive, an Intel Graphics co-processor, and runs on Windows 10 Professional."

"Tablet is nice. Only bad thing about it is the charger. Microsoft can't seem to figure out how to make a charger that doesn't get twisted up. In less than a week, the charger cord is all twisted up and has kinks all the way down. It still works, but a little annoying to unravel."

"The Surface Pro does seem like a pretty solid machine and I really like how with this product, you are given the option to upgrade its features and credentials to more what you are looking for, with the price then increasing, obviously. Its light weight would make this laptop very easy to commute around with you and it's more of a space-giver. "

"This is an okay option if you need to do work on the go, then tablet mode will fit yiu great on this laptop all in one tablet. The thing that makes the Surface so great is that it is both a laptip and a tablet at the same time, which is so convenient. It is a bit pricey though, at $600, it's really only worth ha lf that, but you know companies, they have to make a profit. I am rating this a three because of the hefty price tag makes it inconvenient and not affordable fir those businesses that are on a budget."

"I bought the new Microsoft Surface Pro last week and I just had to come and write a review for it. This thing is amazing and has so many more uses than I thought I would use. I really like that it isn't like a traditional laptop and can be used as a tablet or even a notebook. Another great feature about it is that it is super cheap when compared to the other guys. I would buy one again if I ever needed too."

"This tablet is great for sketching UML drawings and planning a software project. I really like this pen. It is so responsive! The typing experience, however, is another story altogether. It is a real pain to use on the lap if you are on the go. The specs are also so-so. I wouldn't mind using this for terminal or coding in Notepad++, but it doesn't do well with large IDE's like Eclipse. Fun little tablet if you just need a quick supplement to a bigger rig or are SSH'ing into a more powerful pc/server."

"This is a fake Apple trying to masquerade as something that it is not. I was shopping for an Apple laptop, as a developer I prefer to work with the osx operating system, so I only want to work with Apple, and the Microsoft surface definitely is not going to cut it in this scenario since I will have to work with Windows and make a lot of changes to my workflow in order to incorporate it. There will be a significant learning curve here and it will waste a lot of time overall, but I guess it will have to do since this is what the company decided to go with."

"The Microsoft Surface Pro is a sleek bit of kit, there's no doubt about it. It's got great form, and it's a lot more powerful than you'd expect. It can handle some really resource intensive activities, which makes it really convenient to use considering how little space it requires. But as far as development goes, there are better options for the price. The Surface Pro may be really cool, but it's not the kind of machine you'd want to develop on."

"I'm not a big fan of the Surface laptops in general because 1) they seem overpriced for what you get, and 2) as a Linux-based developer, it's sometimes challenging to get my toolchain to work in a Windows environment. The quality of this device is pretty good overall, but I wouldn't use it as a cheap dev box. As an office machine or something to get out during meetings? Absolutely."

"The Microsoft Surface Pro is a cross-over between a laptop and a tablet. Its2.6ghz processor and 4gb of ram is more than enough for serious duty processing. However in order to program successfully on this platform, purchasers should buy the optional, add-on keyboard. Without it, it would be much harder to be able to program just using a touch-keyboard. So although the computer itself works very well the fact that you have to buy another add on in order to program is a bit of a drawback."

"The latest iteration on Microsoft's Surface Pro, the sleek and slender design of this portable laptop has never been so thin. The specifications can all be customized to the user's liking, which will of course increase the price substantially, but it's well worth the money if you are going to be using this Surface for years to come. The screen is crisp and vibrant, with an OLED 4K resolution display, the snap keyboard is a neat portable feature and the portability of the package is outstanding for productive work on the go."

"For coding or gaming, this is probably not a great option. The amount of storage space will limit how much you can put onto this tablet. The good thing about it is that it can be used as a tablet or a laptop, it does have a decent processor, but with limited storage, unless price isn't a concern, then this could be worthwhile. Overall this might work in a pinch, but I would rather find a true laptop for gaming or coding, the screen is too small and would likely strain your eyes rather quickly. "

The surface pro looks like a great computer, but I'm confused about why it is coming up in my search results - I don't see any reference to coding or programming in the description. I will keep searching to see what else is out there."

"There are a lot of laptops out there that are good for programming. I do think Microsoft is a pretty decent brand. I don't think it's ideal for programming because it's like a tablet and the keyboard is probably attachable and small and thin. I don't like small keyboards because I have big hands. I'm sure you can find a bigger keyboard but it's such a hassle."

I found that this unit lags a little more than I would like but is ample for basic daly needs. I know my friend does drafting and has higher specs and hers is much more fluid. if you need more specs on board there are tons of options and the quality and workmanship is great with a sleek design."

I love the feauture of the speaker being on the front. I never have a hard time hearing my videos. I also love the long battery life! Over 13 hrs of life!! So helpful when I can't plug in."
