Ever imagined what it would look like if Keanu Reeves played Ghost Rider? Well, now you won't have to. After rumors started surfacing of the famous actor joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), fans have become hyped. So much so, that even a new Marvel movie fan art has gone viral of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider. The last version of Ghost Rider on the big screen was portrayed by Nicholas Cage back in 2007 then again in 2011. But the thing is, neither of those movies was particularly loved by fans. In truth, fans were far more excited about Gabriel Luna's portrayal of the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. Unfortunately, that Ghost Rider series on Hulu starring Luna got canceled. As bad as it sounds, this could be a blessing in disguise for us Marvel fans because now there's a strong chance that Ghost Rider will return on the big screen! What's even better is that Keanu Reeves might actually even play him which is just awesome! If you want to know more about this news, then just keep reading this article.
There have been rumors of Keanu being cast as the MCU's new Ghost Rider. It's been the talk of the town and is widely spread across social media. Due to all this commotion, it has even led digital artists such as Yadvender Singh Rana (aka ultraraw26 on Instagram) to create top-of-the-line artwork of Keanu as Johnny Blaze himself. Just by looking at the fan art, oh boy are we excited! While there hasn't been any news on an upcoming Ghost Rider movie any time soon, it's definitely something that Marvel could be looking towards in the future. There are already reports of a Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali being developed for Phase 5 in the MCU. This could potentially pave the way for other supernatural horror properties to make a comeback in Marvel. We're pretty sure that a lot of fans would approve of Keanu Reeves playing the role of Johnny Blaze given his minimalist acting style which he has showcased in his previous roles.
Marvel CCO Kevin Feige mentioned in the past that the studio has been in talks with Reeves about potentially appearing in every MCU film that they've made so far. In fact, the Point Break star has been in contact with Marvel Studios to figure out his potential role in the MCU. Ghost Rider happened to be the most recent one under consideration. Well, it looks like Marvel has no plans of rushing into things. They're actually taking their time in finding the perfect role for him. So we're still not certain if he'll be Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider or if he'll play a different superhero in the MCU. Which could also be a villain, perhaps? Sounds exciting, to say the least. Still, nothing is certain but it feels like Reeves will eventually find his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A lot of people may not be aware of this but Ghost Rider was set to be the subject of a potential Hulu series. For us who've watched Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., you've probably already realized that it could prove quite tricky in casting Reeves as Ghost Rider for a new movie in the MCU. That's because Gabriel Luna was supposed to reprise his role as the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider in the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' spinoff. Unfortunately, that idea was never capitalized on so now the character has the opportunity to appear again on the big screen. The only problem is since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is also set in the MCU, Keanu will have to play an alternate version of Ghost Rider. That would be really confusing for fans having two Ghost Riders in the same universe. If you could recall, there were already two efforts in making a Ghost Rider film starring Nicholas Cage that has been done in the past. But even those films from over a decade ago aren't particularly fondly remembered. That's why fans are looking forward to the return of Johnny Blaze more than ever.
What if Keanu Reeves doesn't end up as Ghost Rider? Does that mean that all our hopes and dreams of him being a superhero in the MCU are over? Well, that's not entirely true. In fact, we don't even have to worry about that. There are a lot of characters that have been suggested for him by Marvel fans. These include Silver Surfer, Mr. Sinister, Moon Knight, Namor, and even Wolverine. The list goes on and there are plenty of other options in-store. Still, we'll just have to see who he'll play in the MCU. In the meantime, there's a lot of other stuff to look forward to for fans when it comes to Keanu's upcoming projects. We'll soon see him in the highly-anticipated sequel of 'Bill & Ted Face the Music.' But, what we're most excited about is that he'll be reprising his roles in the upcoming sequels 'The Matrix 4' and 'John Wick 4.' Now, that's definitely something to look forward to!
It seems like everybody wants a piece of Keanu Reeves. Upon reading this, he's still shooting for the fourth installments of the Matrix and John Wick franchises. Afterward, word is that his next move could involve the world of comic book films. But the question that we all want to know is, which comic book franchise will he be a part of? If you haven't yet heard, both Marvel and DC are incredibly keen on landing him for a high profile role in one of their superhero blockbusters. Marvel's Kevin Feige even said that they've always kept a spot open for him on their superhero roster. But, did you know that Reeves has had previous experience with DC when he starred in Constantine back in 2005? On being asked about the role, Keanu said that he'd take the opportunity to play the character again if given the chance. That brought a lot of speculation to the idea of having an eventual sequel for the movie. If this were the case, we could very well see Justice League Dark be fully underway.
