"I thought this was a great book. It goes into depth more about the caveman monkeys at the beginning, which was interesting. But what was more interesting is that this was written after the movie. It's supposed to be sort of supplemental. I thought that was a cool little fact. Anyway, great writing. Good stuff as always from Clarke."

"2001: A Space Odyssey is, in my humble opinion, Stanley Kubrick's greatest work. It not only codified everything we believe the future would look like, it also features a great story that would require intensive watching in order to understand. Visually, this movie still holds up and can go toe to toe with the CGI-heavy movies of today. Definitely put this on your to-watch list for the weekend!"

"2001: A Space Odyssey features one of the most frightening AIs I've ever seen in film. HAL 9000 was terrifyingly cold and calculating. In its mind, it is doing what it believes to the correct and that is the scariest thing of all."

"I would wholeheartedly agree that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the best movie. I love the science-fiction genre so 2001: A Space Odyssey fits perfectly into my faves. I have watched 2001: A Space Odyssey a lot since its release."

"2001: A Space Odyssey is a classic. I loved how the way tried to be faithful to the book. Space exploration is the new frontier and I think all sci-fi movies or at least those in dealing with space stories could be traced back to the classic book."

"2001: A Space Oddesey is your classic film about humans and machine. Machines are often depicted as objective-oriented while disregarding human factors like emotions. HAL 9000 is a scary fellow because it would rather jeopardize the lives of the crew to carry out the mission. HAL eventually showed human weaknesses as it gets disconnected. Here's the question: are we ready to depend on pragmatic AIs?"

"HAL is the computer character I can't forget about this movie. He's so super smart and error-free! He's voiced as male so I'm referring to him as 'he'. He's super smart that he became the element for man versus machine present in this movie which actually got me thrilled when this first came out."

"This is far and away one of the best sci-fi films out there, if not one of the best films period. The plot and the dialogue is so iconic, and the way it's shot is just beautiful. You won't stop thinking about this one for a long, long time."

"2001: A Space Odyssey is arguably the greatest science fiction film of all time. BY modern standards it moves slowly and is obtuse but it is worth every second of effort that you put forth to understand it."

"Yessiree, sir! There is no argument here. There is no further searching required. "2001: A Space Odyssey" is indeed one of the best, most influential books of the 20th Century. The same can be said for the movie, which is a classic for all time. And here we are, well into the 21st century, where we are now considering daily how intrusive Artificial Intelligence has become in our lives and the power of the computer to control our lives against our wills. This book by Arthur C. Clarke fits this category perfectly!"
