"If you're looking for a movie that will not only make you cry but also make you feel just bad, this is perfect. I feel so sorry for brothers but everything is realistic. It made me think for several days after watching."

"What a surprising anime drama... 80s was really the golden age for Anime movies and Grave of the Fireflies is one of its masterpieces. The movie is heartbreaking but you'll definitely appreciate the story. It's about the impact of WW II in the lives of people, especially children."

"This is a very touching and thought-provoking movie about the consequences of war. IT is a very meaningful and sad movie about the life of an orphan and her sister trying to survive in Japan that has been ravaged by war. The experience will leave you moved and heartbroken. "

"I was blown away by this movie. It started off with a bang (literally) and doesn't sugar coat the horrors of war. Even though this is an animated film I wouldn't let kids watch it without giving it a look myself first... the topics are very adult in nature, and may not be suitable for young eyes. If your kids are mature enough, though, this is definitely worth watching along with them and having some frank discussions afterward."

"This is one of the most emotional, dark, and heartbreaking movies that I have ever seen from the studio. It was a painfully beautiful story that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. It brilliantly depicts the true cost of war on people and their struggle to survive during a time of their history when there's no hope to hold on to."

"Grave of the Fireflies is anti war anime. It is known for being one of the saddest and most dramatic anime stories ever. It centers around two Japanese brothers in World War 2 Japan. If you like anime this might be for you but I'm not into anime so it isn't very fitting to me, but might be for many others."
