"Matilda is a funny and sad story of a little girl unwanted by her family. She outsmarts them at every turn. If you don't want to imagine the characters, there is a movie by the same name. I think imagination is better though and this one has lots to imagine!"

"First of all, this listing is for a movie, not a book. Second, the Netflix page comes up empty. Matilda the movie is based on a book by Roald Dahl about a girl with telekinetic powers, so that qualifies!"

"This is a great movie with a child protagonist. It's a family classic and I plan on showing it to my son. "

"Matilda is a classic story that everyone should read written by Roald Dahl of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory fame. Matilda is an exceptionally smart young girl who is often mis-treated and neglected by her parents and others in her world. To retaliate, Matilda often plays pranks on those who have done her wrong. She meets other people who aren't so mean, befriends them and reveals she has ability to use her mind to do more than just pranks. The book showcases the importance of a loving family and friends, even if they aren't your biological one."

"This link lead to Netflix's offering of Matilda, which is a classic family film about a young girl with some very interesting powers. The movie is based on the book by Roald Dahl. Encouraging fifth graders to read the book and then do a comparison and contrast between the book and the film could be a great exercise to motivate young readers. It would also provide good introduction to Dahl's other books, which include "The Witches" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," both of which were also made into movies. It's a fun solution. "

"Reading an interview with grown-up Matilda (the actress who played her) really ruined this movie for me. I no longer see it as heart-warming, but just a shrill and demanding child who's going to grow up into a worst adult."

"Matilda is a pretty good children's movie on Netflix. It stars Danny DeVito so you have to like him, and he directs it too. Many have seen this movie many many times. "
