"This story started out as a classic, but has become almost like a trope at this point. I'm not sure what to make of it anymore, it's been remade so many times. And when it's not being remade, it's being copied and emulated. The sole interesting thing is the "surprise" at the end, because the rest of it reads like a really dark and tragic tale of "be careful or bad things will happen" that scolds science. And I love science, so I'm not really into seeing it scolded. Used to be a good story, now it's just overdone."

"The original Planet of the Ape's special effects just doesn't hold up to today's standards, especially comparing it to the remake (or any superhero movie for that matter). But believe me when I say this is the granddaddy of mind-twister movies. The reveal that the ape planet is actually Earth will never be topped, made more powerful by the iconic image of the Statue of Liberty submerged in water. Classic!"

"This is a classic movie that my dad watched again the other day. I joined him in and did not regret watching this. This movie still holds up to its theme of survival of the fittest. The stunts are excellent! I don't think such editing technology had already existed at the time of filming this movie (1968). This gave off a natural feel of the movie even if this is supposed to be scifi."

""YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! AH, DAMN YOU! GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!". This is the very best line in the history of movie. You thought Taylor left planet Earth, but no! It was planet Earth all along, populated by genetically-modified apes. Those damn dirty apes! A very good sci-fi movie that stands the test of time."

"Advances in bioengineering and genetics make this future possible. And it will also take one over-eager scientist to produce this same result where apes would become smarter and more powerful than human beings. Not a bright future for us, but a very good speculative movie."
