The House that Screamed

This Spanish movie by Narciso Ibañez Serrador is one of the precursors of the slasher genre and an inspiration for Argento's Suspiria. In a boarding school house for wayward girls, the girls have sexual escapades trying to avoid the repressive laws of the school symbolized in the figure of the head mistress. But suddenly the girls in the house starts vanishing and seems that there is a killer on the loose hidden in the corridors of the manor.

"I don't see the need for the sexual escapades. I'm also not a fan of horror movies. I think their could be another way for the girls to avoid repressive laws besides sex. Maybe something like marching, revolting, etc. this is a horror film. It should be more inventive."

"The house that screamed has inspired countless films and depending on who you talk to maybe a whole genre. The movie itself is more spooky than scary but if I was alive at the time and saw when t was fresh i probably would have been freaked out as well."
