The King of Comedy (1982)

Oscar Winner Robert De Niro stars in Martin Scorsese's dark satire, The King of Comedy. He portrays a desperate comedian who kidnaps his TV idol (Jerry Lewis) in an attempt to claim the spotlight for himself.

    "If you could only see one from this list movies like Joker, make it this one. Call it a remake or a spiritual successor but the fact remains that these two have so much in common that it might as well have been made by the same group of people. Hell, Robert De Niro is in both of them."

    "It did not do that well upon its release and is often overlooked. It's one of Scorsese's hidden gem and one of Robert De Niro's finest performance. This film tells a lot about the state of modern celebrity culture that holds true even to this day."
