"I went into this movie thinking it might not be good(foreign language Oscar Winner and all) but it turned out to be really good. It wasn't a shoot them up spy movie but instead it really spoke to the way our society is currently going. With our surveillance state things like this are bound to happen and it was interesting in seeing a movie that dealt with these themes. It was my first German movie but I think I will try more."

"The Lives of Others is one of the best spy movies I've seen in a long time! The story was captivating and it was certainly action packed! Having grown up in the 80's, the time period resonated with me, personally. I needed to use subtitles as I don't speak German. It's saying quite a lot that it was still a worthwhile experience to watch it!"

"Omygoodness! This is such an outstanding movie!! If I remember it right this is the very first movie about the GDR. And it really opened my eye that GDR is like a Mickey Mouse state before and behind the walls was the very suffocating atmosphere that the people there experience. This really blew my mind away! The best!"

"A choice between loyalty and rightfulness. I liked the main character's portrayal in handling his problem in this film."
