"You can't call yourself a true science fiction fan unless you've watched the thing. It ranks up there with Alien as the est alien movies ever made. Oh and stay as far away from the remake as you can please. Just watch this one. I guarantee John Carpenter's directing hasn't lost its luster even after so many years."

"This is probably John Carpenter's best film of all time. It gave me a lot of sleepless nights. The effects were absolutely wonderful and the plot, while it had a lot of holes, works. This film is definitely one of the best movies from the 80s."

"This is by far the most thrilling and scariest movie I have seen. It's a great mix of sci-fi and horror which keeps you gripped throughout. I remember watching this with my husband as I sat on the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie."

"This version of the classic "The Thing" is a superb telling of a classic monster movie. The director and as well as the actors give outstanding performances that make it a must have for monster movie enthusiasts."

"I am very horrified by every scene in this film. Most of the scenes are somewhat sensitive to watch because it's kinda gross but that is what makes the movie a realistic one. "

"I love this movie. It is more like a mystery and sci-fiction movie rather than the horror but still it is OK. I would definitely watch it soon and enjoy the young Kurt Russell."

"I don't like horror movies in any way shape or form. I have heard that The Thing is one of the best horror movies out there. I will have to trust everyone's opinion on this one."

"While it does offer a movie for the category for best sci-fi movies, it doesn't necessarily explain why. It just tells you a little about the movie and nothing much."

"My brother loves a good sci-fi movie. When I rented this for him to see he absolutely loved it! A plus for me was that T.K. Carter and Kirk Russell starred in it."
