If you've seen the film, you'll notice that the majority of the film takes place in two locations, the Kim family's old, rundown home, and the Park family's prestigious, labyrinthian mansion home. The Park family's home was built on a vacant lot in Jeonju. While the Kims' basement-level apartment and surrounding neighborhood were built inside a large water tank. This stark contrast between these two homes was deliberately highlighted in the film with the use of parallel front-facing windows for each house. Bong believed that even though both families look out the same window, they see different things.
